🔥 *The story is peak fiction.* 🙏 If you liked Danganronpa, 999, VLR, etc., you will love Tribe Nine. The story is worth it. Characters can die and still be used and pulled in gacha (I'm not gonna spoil why). Lots of interesting deaths and mystery. Look forward to this game. It has the polish of a $60 JRPG. Challenging like what you'd expect from a game you paid money for. But the twist is, the devs decided to make it f2p for everyone and funded by gacha (and probably battlepass too). And money made will not only fund the game itself, but it also funds the dev studio so that they can continue to make more creative games and projects like Rain Code, etc. Hopefully, the feel of the combat, like FG3000 said, will be enhanced a bit more to be competitive against ZZZ and PGR.

I am still coping for Danganronpa 4 given how V3's ending left it very open-ended.

@@novaboy1174🫂 I know. But it's not gonna happen. 😢 The devs signed a bad contract for Danganronpa and lost the rights to it. V3's ending was their way of giving the middle finger to their contractors. 😔 The devs had to leave the IP behind. And so they wouldn't be screwed over by bad contracts again, the devs put money together to launch their own game company and studio. 🫡 Most of the Danganronpa devs are still together, making the games they wanna make. But the best they can do is make something similar because they don't have the rights to the IP. 😅 At least that's what people were saying when everyone saw how horrible V3's ending was. 💡 They also have an upcoming Switch game that's basically a Danganronpa reboot. Hopefully that game and Tribe Nine will become a greater success than Danganronpa for them. They probably feel hurt by the loss of the IP more than anybody (if the story I heard is true).

For parrying, I think every melee character can do it. You just have to attack with your attack skill when the enemy is about to attack and you can switch characters during the fight like FF7 remake

the Danganronpa devs haven't been Spike Chunsoft for some years, the Danganronpa creator and team is at Too Kyo Games, a gaming company created by the Danganronpa creator and other ex Spike Chunsoft devs @@kaitodelucky7652

I've been playing this since launch of the Beta and to make it a bit easier for people who are interested. Think ZZZ, but the focus is story, and not combat flow. The combat is a bit chunky at times. There is only a dodge, and the parry isn't really a thing. You plat this game for character story and the AMAZING plot so far. The SNES style RPG world and the music sell it super well. My one little..."Be ready" for thing. They set up a plot point directly to maybe..hint at their intentions. With the gacha, that being the units you use are not the story characters, and maybe the fact you can keep using them regardless of certain...situations. It's team DR/Tookyo. You know what to expect. People aren't gonna be around forever. XD

@@acezero10 It says there is one. It just doesn't say how to. It says dodge, and it says specifically only TANKS parry, so...maybe it's if you dodge but don't move as a tank? Q couldn't do it, and he was my tank.

I know I'm a bit late, but since the Demo is out, imma explain anyway. to parry you need to have absolutely perfect timing. Every enemy has a certain time frame where you can parry their attacks. Though finding that out is extremely hard and almost impossible. Considering the Story, it is amazing, especially when you've watched the anime since there are a lot of references towards it

Nah sorry, but the combat in this game IS better than ZZZ. I do have to admit tho that it takes some time before you really get the feeling of it. The more you progress especially when fighting against special bosses, the combat really opens up a lot more, and these bosses actually have mechanics and phases sort of like MMO in a way. For example there's a giant shark boss that can deploy bombs around the arena that are really hard to dodge and can even insta-kill you, so to overcome that you have to bait the shark to eat the bombs. And as you said the game is challenging, but more so when you progress further enough into the beta. The last boss of the beta which is Death Penalty is significantly tougher and took me a good few hours with some grinding along with build adjustments before i could finally beat it, and even then it's still such a hard fight to overcome that if you slip just once, it could be fatal because these enemies / bosses have their own Tension phases too. The only way i could say ZZZ combat is better is solely from the fluidity of animations and controls, but other than that, there really is nothing that makes it better than TRIBE NINE, especially if we're talking about the "challenge" aspect. That's kind of where i'm at with any games from HoYoverse in general, they have good production value, but it's really just style over substance. Speaking about the story, TRIBE NINE is very heavy on dialogue, but that's kind of normal in Kodaka games, but at least they are very enjoyable compared to many gacha nowadays where they keep yapping the most basic and robot-like dialogue with so many exposition dumps, basically straight up a snoozefest. TRIBE NINE on the other hand is just much more engaging in this aspect, which is also helped by such a memorable cast.

No. Dodge matrix slow effect is there but it from one of tension cards the game give you for free at the start.

It doesn't feel impactful because they made fighting with a bat as if they were using swords. Who knows if they're going to change that but if the story is good I'll give it a try

As a person who loves baseball, my ears perked up for a game that featured baseball. 😁😁 Only to be completely deflated on whatever that bastardization in this game is supposed to be. 😓😓

Give it a chance or at least watch someone's playthrough of the beta. There is a mode where you have to play (a very extreme version of) baseball. It's creative and entertaining how it was implemented, but 😅 you can decide for yourself once you actually see it.

Really wish they would’ve focused the gameplay more on baseball and not arpg combat. There are enough genshins. There aren’t enough sports anime rpgs. Baseball Superstars needs the competition! Overworld aesthetic looks cool af tho.

There is a mode where you play baseball. The ARPG combat is for overworld and bosses. But there are parts of the game where the baseball aspect comes in. But I'm not gonna give spoilers so that's all I'll say. 😅

I agree so much! The Shark fight is complete bullshit with attacks that are not telegraphed and unforgiving dodge frames...it won't thrive in today's casual market.

I disagree. 🙅‍♀️⛔️ Gacha games are too easy. I'm not asking for it to be like Dark Souls. But it should have the standard of difficulty you'd expect from the average video game that you'd pay money for. And so far, that's where it is. Challenge = engagement. And the devs found the right amount to make it fun. Believe me when I say it functions like a $60 JRPG. And that's a good thing. I really hope they keep it as is and don't destroy the game to be an idle piece of crap like most gacha (WuWa being the exception).

@@lancy1212😅 not every game needs to be brain dead & appeal to people who don't even like playing video games. WuWa is challenging and is very successful. Let Tribe Nine and WuWa be something different. Video games have a standard level of difficulty. Tribe Nine meets that level of being challenging to make you try hard, but not overly frustrating like Dark Souls. 💡 Despite most games being at the standard of challenge, video games have become mainstream. Not only that, but it's so popular that people are paying $80 just for a chance to play those challenging games. 🙅‍♀️ There's absolutely no reason why it wouldn't be successful. Even children play more difficult games. Even Kirby and Super Mario games are more challenging than gacha. 🙏 Wuthering Waves proved to everyone that you can make a challenging game and succeed. In fact, a good level of challenge is a fundamental principle of good game design. If the game is too hard, there are plenty of idle games. Most gacha in general hover around being brainless. 😅 There are plenty of options for people who want to *pretend* they're playing a video game without putting in any effort to actually play. Let Tribe Nine and Wuthering Waves be for the people who want an actual game to play.

They can make a harder difficulty modes etc but it should be an optional thing Not like a ... 80% of the player base died to this stuff and get frustrated in the forced to go thru story mode thing Thats where the term "p2w" gonna be spammed in the reviews comes from

@@sandythamtono2081the reason why gacha games are brainless-levels of easy is because simple small games were the easiest to make & the best a phone could handle at the time. The mainstream success of video games, with their on-average challenging levels of difficulty, is proof that games don't need to be easy. People were saying the same things about WuWa, but look at how successful the game is now. People were scared to deviate away from the trend. Everyone was sure it wouldn't work. But WuWa proved them wrong. There is an endless sea of apps that pretend to be games for people who want to pretend they're playing one. It's not because catering to non-gamers is the *only* way to succeed. It's because it's 1 of the ways a game "could" succeed. And once someone does it, others are bound to imitate without thinking. That's why the app store is full of cloned games. 💡 But if every mobile game is forced to be that way, they will never cross over into mainstream gaming like Wuthering Waves did. They will always just be idle time-wasters for a phone rather than a legit video game. Let Tribe Nine be different and show that they can succeed by implementing the standard level of challenge and gameplay that you'd get from a $60 premium product. 💡 If billions of people are willing to pay $60+ to play the typical video game (most of which are challenging), then there's no reason why those same people wouldn't play it for free.
