I've run across a few of the Professor's books back in the day:-) But I'm not sure I agree with him that Donald is "slippery." Trump has been a master at getting other people to do his dirty laundry. I saw him at an event back in 2007. Two things I saw in him was, one; he believed in "getting even," and two, he had a knack for making people like him. Many people might not see that talent because of what he's been doing allegedly doing for the past few years. At the time I noticed how he interacted with the audience, appearing to be a good listener and answering questions that showed he was paying attention to the questioner. People are flattered when they believe they have been heard. At the time Trump was seen as a billionaire (he spoke of losing 950 million dollars, then recovering), and he had a TV show. This feeds into the American propensity to idolize "heroes."

Are subpoenas really effective when the rich and powerful can literally choose to ignore them and/or fight them in court when most Americans do not have the money or the influence to do the same? What his children were watching on TV was the crowds when they were streaming towards the building. The former president was in the dining room at the White House watching on TV when the actual insurrection took place. It was reported by someone that at that time he was not taking any calls. As time went on, he did take some calls and we have heard about those.
