58:56 eta: i agree, the gentle placing of the poster always looked sus to me. An american wouldve just folded it up and shoved it down his pants or something. I love how you're like a one-stop-shop of sorts. BTS & the few other kpop groups I like? Check. Murder shows? Check. Stephanie Soo? Yup. North Korea? Uh huh. My favorite reactor checking out a big portion of my special interests? I love it. You're entertaining, thoughtful, intelligent, interesting, and even wise. You've become my favorite channel & I get really stoked when I get your notifications. Idk if you'll read this, but your commentary & charisma can always make me smile and cheer me up. So thank you. Making me smile isn't always easy (my husband of 30 years died, it was 3 years ago on Jan 1st so I'm just starting my 3rd year alone, and grief lingers as I'm sure you know) but somehow you manage to do it. So gamsahabnida & borahae! 💜 Eta: 13:26 a part of me wants to visit, except I'd be too scared plus as an American there's no way. I'd want a passport from a different country if I went (which I won't obvs lol). If you're an American or a journalist, most people hide those facts if they visit. You're watched 24/7, the rooms are bugged, you have to have a handler, and you can only see what they want you to see. Mostly only Pyongyang. You aren't allowed to even fold a newspaper if any of the 3 north Korean leaders are on it, & you can't take photos of soldiers. The main reason I wouldn't go is because I don't want to give any $ to help their economy, since zero goes to the people and it all goes to Kim jong un or towards nukes. 36:36 they don't even have anesthesia in NK. If you get surgery you won't be knocked out. They lack *everything* over there. (According to NK defectors) 39:41 actually, at one time Kim jong un invited performers from SK to visit & perform for him and the elite of NK. 1 of the groups to go was kpop girl group red velvet. Kim jong un seemed to take a liking to Irene. You can see videos of the performance on KZbin & it's wild. You've seen how people/ARMY react to BTS live at concerts and awards. It was so quiet & eerie . If you want to see what a NK girl group looks like they're called Moranbong. The differences are wild. 1:27:38 they're Jewish. While an autopsy isn't expressly forbidden, Jews aren't allowed to mutilate their bodies even after death, so depending on how the Jewish person interprets that, then it could be forbidden, to them. Many others refuse autopsies as well. Idc how religious I was, if that was done to my kid I'd have to know
@pslinky10 ай бұрын
52:03 yes they think Kim jong un is God. You're not allowed to worship anyone there other than the leaders. You should hear the stories they tell about their leaders, crazy shit like he was walking talking and riding horses at like 3. (That's not an actual thing they say, not exactly, but similar, and he basically did everything. And absolutely anything that is wrong in the country is caused by either SK, or those "American bastards". That's what even small children, kindergarten age, call Americans.

Yeah I saw that RV live performance in NK and the way the crowd clapped in sync was so fking creepy💀
@pslinky10 ай бұрын
@@bxbluesikr? I've watched it a few times showing people, and watching the audience is fascinating. For 1 of their songs when it panned to the audience you could see some of the people seemingly enjoying it, albeit subdued. But it was so eerie & creepy overall. Kim Jung un always stood by Irene in photos & such and seemed to take a liking to her. Could you imagine how uncomfortable that would be?
@volhan.p.972210 ай бұрын
@@pslinky the look on Iren's face when he stood next to her made me think she is just actively trying to dissociate from the situation. Gosh, I would be so scared in her place even if I am not as beautiful as she is and he wouldn't be interested in me as he was in her. The only thing that probably would calm me with Irene and Red Velvet situation at that time is that kidnapping of beloved international superstar would be too much of diplomatic disaster even for NK.

I think its normal to feel curious and tempting to go to North Korea because I feel the same too, I want to know how they live and whatever mysterious that they didn't show in media etc. but TO ACTUALLY GOING THERE is a NO. 😅

I think NK offered the autopsy and thats why the family refused? But his family probably mistook the physical changes from him being in a coma, as physical ab*se. Him not being able to move or eat would result in his muscles becoming atrophied, he'd look gaunt, almost skin and bones, which would explain the 'his arms look twisted' comment. That's also why his gums deteriorated. Edit: went back and watched, North Korea offered to do the autopsy if they'd send him back, that's why they refused.
@THErealOGse8 ай бұрын
Do you really think North Korea autopsy would be legit though?!
@elazybelleorr24728 ай бұрын
@@THErealOGse no not at all, just I think he misunderstood why the family refused an autopsy. It's because North Korea were the ones offering to do it. Which is completely understandable why they refused.

They still imprisoned him and neglect is abuse. He probably got an infection from the foot wound he had (that they obviously caused) and instead of treating him they left him to rot.

"Stains? 🤨" 😂 I watched that VICE piece w/ the North Korean labor camps in Russia that she mentioned. Crazy! I also watched the vid on Asian Boss w/ the ex-spy who talked about Otto. The ex-spy is 1 of the ppl in the Asian Boss interview vid you watched w/ North Korea escapees a while back. If you want to keep on looking into North Korea, a history of the regime would be a good thing (how it all started). VICE has some decent stuff as well, but they're older. Their journalists went into the country. I always thought that this story would be the final thing that stops you from even considering visiting foreal foreal. Because phew, you were scaring us.

if you ever react to more North Korea stuff, i would recommend the vlogs of Alex Tienda. It's 8 vlogs in total and they're in spanish but they all have proper english subtitles and they're all informative: it's like a documentary but in vlog-form. It's really interesting seeing North Korea through someone in there and not professional cameras. This guy visits these places that Stephanie talks about and shows the fancy hotel and stuff like that, it's CRAZY. Bonus: You should watch Red Velvet's performance in there lol, because yes, girlies got to perform in North Korea and shake this mf's hand 😭
