wow, what an invention, reminds me of the Vanguard Alta pro, and the 'trigger grip' head it had; but fair points, that handle should have a screwed adjustment for the play, so you can lock it up or down, great idea for maintaining portability, but improvements needed, also that magnet thing, perhaps a circlip, to hold them in?, or make them into screws, with some loctite holding them in?
@jean-philippegrignom647911 күн бұрын

Please Smallrig make a longer version (going up to 170cm, without the central column which looks a bit funky when using big cameras and especially sliders), maybe with 75mm bowl ! Hi, questions please: 1) can the head be removed? And if so, can another bowl head be dropped in? Or only a head that mounts to a 3/8" screw? 2) How do you like the quality of the included head? Are the movements fluid without backlash? I have a Sachtler Aktiv6+Flowtech 75 system and while the Flowtechs are fast, this seems faster. But I would love to retain the silky smooth Aktiv6 head. So this is why I ask. Thanks!
@paulloth2 ай бұрын
yes the head can be removed watch the Potato jet video for more info
@isaac.schultz2 ай бұрын
1. Yes, head can be removed! A different head on this tripod would need to fit into the 2cm hole. 2. The included head is very solid. smooth, with a strong counterbalance, and plenty of room to adjust the speeds of fluid movement. I think the pan is tighter than I would like however

Thank you for the video. Great idea of how to work fast with a tripod! How is the head to work with, is it smooth? Is it actually a fluid head?
@isaac.schultzАй бұрын
@@martinekwall4671 Thanks! The included head is very solid in my opinion. smooth, with a strong counterbalance, and plenty of room to adjust the speeds of fluid movement. I think the pan is tighter than I would like however - not quite as smooth as the tilt

Nice video. One question, once the legs are locked, is there any way to level the head apart from the legs of the tripod?
@isaac.schultz2 ай бұрын
Thanks! Not to my knowledge - I haven’t found another way to level it yet, although I could be incorrect. Normally that function would be 100% necessary, but with this Tripod, it works extremely well to level it with the legs

No dedicated spikes (one per leg, not two) means it will wobble on dense grass. Serious flaw just kills the beautiful concept. I hope Smallrig will address this.
@isaac.schultzАй бұрын
@@SuperSuperka After making this review, I found they they have the option to remove the plastic feet to reveal spikes underneath. Check out Potato Jets youtube video to see this more in depth
@SuperSuperkaАй бұрын
@@isaac.schultz I saw this option, but I consider it to be bad. Only normal single uncovered spikes "works" on dense grass, fallen leaves etc.. I did have problem with shaky footages previously because of sturdy tripod with wrong feets.

what about the fluid head? i wanna know more about it
@isaac.schultz2 ай бұрын
Yes I hope to make a review that goes more in depth soon. But for now, I can tell you that I had a great first experience with it. It was smoother than anything I've personally owned. Keep in mind, I only had about 8lbs of weight on it. It has a nice amount of control over the speed for both tilt and pan. I did feel like it could have allowed for a little faster movement on the pan, however. There is another question in the comments from @bwest6275 that gives even more specifics.
@noahyv2 ай бұрын
The fluid head is not as good or revolutionary as the legs. It's well designed and has great features but the pan drag is a little sketchy in my experience. If they fix the pan drag it will be a really good head and make the system unbeatable for the price. Frankly it's still a steal right now even if you replace the head or sell the head but hopefully they'll fix it anyway even though they already have a one-of-a-kind product. There is a reason they made a limited first batch of 1000 units, sounds like they are planning to make improvements on the next batch, I bet most of those improvements go into ironing out any issues with the head plus minor improvements.

One question : when going maximum height (with extender tube all the way up), is it sturdy enough? i use an FX6, with a konova 60cm slider with my manfrotto 535 MPRO tripod, which is great, very solid, durable (using itsince 6 years and still perfectly working), but not convenient at all setting up. I can go up to 171cm (maybe 20-30cm more for the camera), so that is very hgh, and i use it a lot for topshots, with FX6 going to the edge of the konova. Do you think i could do something like that with this tripod ? I hope they will release a more robust and longer version of it, without center column wich seems fragile, and not fitted for slider use.
@isaac.schultzАй бұрын
Personally, I would not recommend using the extension rod this tripod comes with (at least beyond 50%). I found it to be quite unstable with my 7lb FX3 rig on it.
