Oh no :( It really does sound, like nobody bothered to tune it or even listen to it critically. It is really too bad, cause it looks really good on paper with aptx and a 'sub'. Would love a comparison between the champ boost and flare 2, they are only 15 euros apart where I live :) Good job mate love you channel!

They nailed the original stormbox, it's such a great BT speaker. I put it again UE Megaboom and several other speakers and found it makes music sound more pleasing to the ears. I wish they took the sound from the original stormbox and made it louder and better battery life.

the original stormbox was tuned by "oluv´s gadgets". he has a good ear and is pretty picky. tribit on their own without external expertise seem to be a bit helpless in terms of sound-tuning.

I want to believe you got a broken unit but other credible reviews lead me to believe it is the tuning. Other reviewers praise it but I think they're translating louder = better (although it is at its own best at max volumes). It's unfortunate because I think it had a lot more potential based on the specs. As is, I don't think the price is really justified by what you get compared to other available alternatives on the market. I recently purchased the flare 2 based on one of your earlier reviews and I'm enjoying it so far. I'm also pleased to see that it still holds up well compared to newer "360 °" options. Excellent review, as always, BTW!

Got the pro to test out and it’s ok for what I would use it for and its £70 on amazon sale so for me just for the garden or travel or bbq in the garden I don’t mind it , it’s ok I played mine for 4 days so 5-6 hours in the garden and was ok didn’t die on me at reasonable sound

Thank you for your effort and this great review. My problem with the Stormbox Pro is not the almost non-existent low bass, but the much too boosted upper bass range with XBass ON at normal volume. The relation is not right. Call me crazy, but even though the sound of the device doesn't really blow me away with some titles, I bought a second Stormbox Pro. And yes, I like the sound very much. Better than 2 UBoom, better than 2 1More, better than 2 Motion+. But only from 60-70% does the bass come through reasonably. In the range where all the others get thinner, the Stormbox Pro starts to sound normal. Same phenomenon in a direct comparison between 1 Stormbox Pro and 1 Motion+. Up to 50-60% you think, is the "subwoofer" asleep? Turn both units up to 80% and go into the next room. What remains from the Motion+ are shrill highs and "pok pok pok". The Stormbox Pro leaves much more music, and yes, now you can hear the bass. But the tuning is still strange. At least unusual. Very good for outdoors, but indoors and at normal volume I miss some warmth, depth, smoothness. Even more curious: I am not a hardcore advocate of driver burn-in. But after a month now, the Pro sounds much more pleasing. Or maybe I've got used to the sound and am talking myself into it so that I don't get angry about the money I've wasted. Just kidding. I like the Pro very much in duets (TWS-paired), especially with instruments. Electro is also great, but there are more suitable alternatives for trap and deep house and other low-bass music. (Sorry for my writing; "deepl" helped me to translate german-english)

I'm bummed with its misleading marketing. The thing is I know a few people who would want a more "friendly" sounding aptx speaker. On the other hand you have the other aptx speaker - Motion Plus - that can be custom eq'd for any audiences.

Hi Alan, considering the quality of Tribit speakers I think that you have got a defective/broken speaker. It's impossible that Tribit sells such a bad sounding speaker! I suggest to ask Tribit for support so we will also know about customer service quality.

Hi Alan, Is it just me or does that sound like a kitchen radio? The Flare is much better. Such a pity as the Max Sound Plus sounds so good. Music makes me smile, but loses all value through a bad speaker. Pity as they aren’t cheap!

Hey, I've got two of the Stormbox Pro and love them. I'm wanting more power. Should I get the stormbox blast? The pro are 40 wats each so I have 80 watts. The blast is only like 90 watts but it's bigger so perhaps it's more efficient? Is the blast worth getting? Or if I want more power than my pair or pros, is there a better solution? I also bought one just after release - was absolute disappointed - base was great, - mids and highs were missing completely. 0% clearance in most songs - especially when there is a lot of detail. Sounded reaaally strange... it made noises when fully charged... The support was nice but i returned it to amazon however ... i am using a motion plus now and i'm happy with it

have you considdered doin headphone reviews? i saw a video of someone wearing (im assuming expensive) microphones in ear and putting on over ear headphones. obviously it cant hold a candle to how they might actually sound but the different sound profiles were actually easily noticeable as he tried on a dozen pairs.

i dont know, there is a big divergence in opinion on this speaker, some people swearing it has breat bass and then people like me saying it has no bass. I wonder if there is some inherent fault which some people have which is shutting off the bass. that lack of bass adjustment at any volume screams dsp issue i would think?

I watched a teardown video and it's built quite well and the bass driver and rads working well too ... but no deep bass in your unit ... damn
