I find it contradictory that the max power is at about 10Kohms when triboelectric generator is an extremely high impedance system. I would expect that to be in Mohms or Gohms range.

you need more surface area then multiple parallel layers, then it could get pretty good!

No, this is a series of prototypes to have a better understanding of the efficiency of different materials by generating and analyzing experimental data. The presentation is exploring the intensive properties of the proposed configurations. This group of scientists is not trying to make the highest output triboelectric product. And even if they were, the simple and extremely known concept of increasing the surface area is not something they can't come up with such as a simple KZbin comment has to "teach" to a group of researchers what to do.

As little as possible, we just wanted to coat the required surface area so the membrane was 'reasonably thin'.

How thick do you think the whole thing would be without the mounts, because I couldn’t tell from the video 😅
