Every time I hear Van Halen songs without vocals I feel that David Lee Roth is a genius for being able to come up with such catchy melodies around these odd riffs.

I wrote the exact same comment somewhere-yes. He does not get enough credit for having crafted the best hard rock act (ever). And even though Eddie was a ‘musical genius,’ it took Dave to effectively channel those gifts in the right directions.

Toshi that was really freakin good man you nailed that tone. That breakdown section is so bad ass. I do wish you could have hit those dive bombs but seriously this is one of the best covers I've seen of this song on YT.

When I watch you play -on any of these Eddie covers, I realize just how "NOT" crazy Ed was with the trem bar. A lot of Eddie Covers will have people going crazy with the whammy -random harmonic dives, the low E dive bomb that go too far ...but your work is very nuanced, subtle even, but it always hits the mark. its made me rethink my playing.
