Im remembering my old days with my father. When he was in wheelchair I took him to Unawatuna beach and we had a beer together. Two years later he was passed away. That day I can remember how happy he was. When I sing in front of him he was used to cry. 😢 this is heart touching ❤❤ Get well soon Mr Sooriyasena.
Was in the audience . We were on our feetThroughout neverfeeling any pain but the hearts pinching agony ofall this. All were tearing. How cruel can fate be to silence that golden voice so brutally . I fervently pray it may be reversible.
Just came here after hearing his demise, even though I have been listening to this beautiful melody often ever since it was released. Umara is a Magician and an awesome collaborator. I love, love, love the background singers, their expressions and everything about them. Goosebumps!
In the rich tapestry of Sri Lankan music, the voice of Priya Sooriyasena weaves through the years like a golden thread, connecting hearts and souls with his timeless melodies. As a fervent admirer, I find it impossible not to be moved by the depth and sincerity in his songs. Priya Sooriyasena is not just a singer; he is a phenomenon, a cherished legend whose music has become an integral part of our lives. For many of us, Priya Sooriyasena is the soundtrack to our most profound and realistic moments. His songs, brimming with emotion and truth, have the power to transport us, to comfort us, and to enrich our lives. Whether it was during times of joy or in moments of solitude, even with a shot of whiskey in hand, listening to his music has always felt like conversing with a dear friend who understands the deepest parts of our soul. One of Priya Sooriyasena's ever-loving songs, "Ratakin Eha Igili", “Adaraneeya Neranjana” and “Heta Dawase Apa Dedena” stands as a testament to his incredible talent and the impact he has had on his listeners. This song, like many of his others, captures the essence of human experience with such beauty and grace that it's impossible not to be moved. The recent Sumathi Awards Ceremony was a poignant reminder of the passage of time and the enduring legacy of this legendary artist. Seeing Priya Sooriyasena in a wheelchair evoked a deep sense of sadness within me, a feeling shared by many fans and admirers. It was a stark reminder of the vulnerability of those we hold in high esteem and the inevitable changes that life brings. Yet, amidst this emotional moment, the spirit of unity and appreciation among the audience was palpable. As they sang "Ratakin Eha Igili" in honor of Priya Sooriyasena receiving the prestigious U W Sumathipala Memorial Award, it was a powerful demonstration of the love and respect that we all share for this remarkable artist. This award, recognizing a lifetime of artistic contribution, could not have been bestowed upon a more deserving individual. I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Sumathi Awards and the selection panel for acknowledging the immense contribution of Priya Sooriyasena to the arts and culture of Sri Lanka. Their recognition of his work not only honors his past achievements but also ensures that his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. I offer my blessings and well wishes to Priya Sooriyasena, the ever-loving legendary singer whose music has been a beacon of light in our lives. May he live longer, gracing us with his resilience, his talent, and his unparalleled gift of song. Priya Sooriyasena's music has been a source of solace, inspiration, and joy for many, and for that, we are eternally grateful. Thank you, Priya, for the melodies that have enriched our lives in ways words can scarcely capture. Gihan Ranasinghe
