I've never hated Nicoles's storyline. I feel it was good for Luke to have a romantic relationship and for us viewers to see him being able to do something other than just being there for Lorelai. And even though it was a secondary thing in the overall storyline, it was well carried and we got to see the evolution of the relationship. Nicole cheating on Luke was a good ending and not at all surprising considering how little he seemed to care about their relationship in the end. I also never hated Anna, although I absolutely hated how Luke handled the whole April thing and let it affect his relationship with Lorelai.

I feel like the cheating arc was horrible but definitely not the worst character in the history of television. Nicole was actually not a bad character either on gg itself, I mean luke needed a few good love interests too before he got together with Lorelei, which makes him a 3 dimensional character. Also, when Nicole came into the show Lorelei had screwed up her relationships with several guys so Nicole wasn’t really the person standing in the way of them becoming a couple, she was just an excuse for both luke and Lorelei not getting together.

My personal favourite from Gilmore Girls is "Seven Weeks" by "Mag68". And I swear that no one paid me to write this comment.

She is sort of the opposite of Lorelai. Always a bit serious and distant even though she had a sense of humour - sophisticated and soft-spoken but definitely a career woman. It makes sense that Luke wanted to try out a relationship with a woman like her. I think Nicole also wanted a little bit of "something different" because an obvious choice for her would have been an academic, wealthy man. The cheating was awful, but they had never been emotionally very close with Luke, so that was a good ending plot-wise. Other option is the relationship just would have died out and this was more dramatic and better. I love the scene where Nicole surprises Lorelai by hanging out at the diner all of a sudden! She just plays it cool and acts as if she doesn't notice, even though Lorelai's awkwardness is so over-the-top 😅

I mean it was hard not to like her, but she had to act mean I always knew it wasn’t her fault. Luke basically came in explaining he loved loreli without saying it. Luke unintentionally abused his girlfriends because they weren’t Lorelei. So of course she had to find love elsewhere she wasn’t like Rachel. She wasn’t going to bow out gracefully or pitifully pine for him. Made sense for her character. Idk.... but we all agree Anna was a complete psycho and the worst. Right?

Anna was a bit paranoid in the sense that she insisted on seeing Luke and Lorelai married before letting April have a relationship with Luke but I think she did have April s best interest at heart. Im shocked to see people hating on April, though.

@@OzmaOfOzz I agree that was all Luke too. He was the one who broke them up not Anna or April. However still that was Anna’s ONLY kind quality after that and rewatching the show so much Over the years, there really isn’t any excuse for her behavior towards Lorelai. She assumes Lorelai doesn’t have kids, she then assumes that because Luke isn’t married he’s unstable and she basically is doing a lot of assuming on behalf of her daughter/indefense of her daughter but her daughter was already grown and a preteen. So even if they had filled out the poor ideas she had of them they couldn’t undo the parenting and growth April already had especially being a brilliant kid. It’s all weird, essentially Anna was bitter because she forced herself to be a single parent and when Luke found out she resented him for it when he tried to do everything he could to make sure they were comfortable and taken care of and do everything he never even knew he had a chance to do. It makes me happy when he finally sticks up for himself and lets Anna know “I never saw her ride a bike for her the first time, or watch her take her first step. It’s all gone.” It’s stuff she took away from him and although she could have had positive motive it was still a poor one considering Luke’s character as we know it and how April wanted a father and even went to find Luke on her own according to Anna. Then trying to move away with her and claim her as property and try to dictate her being “comfortable” with Luke for “threatening her” when in fact it was one of the first times we see Luke really being a great father. It just goes to show who Anna was all along. A hateful, spiteful, manipulative person. Which she turned out to be, it’s sad too because that actress was fantastic and I liked her better as Jess’s Dad’s girlfriend. Even still as Anna she was absolutely evil even with her good motive and acting and her being so likeable. The character was written as one of the bad ones.

She was good on the show! and actually she and Luke had good chemistry and shoulddda stayed together. I think Nicole's character kinda wanted a reason to settle down to the small time life, give up the lawyering life and have a few kids with Luke. I think Lorelei should have given Jason another chance, and he too would have to learn to live a dual NY/county Starshollow lifestyle. I would have loved to see Andrew McCarthy on the show as a love interest for Lorelei! I hope Season 8 focuses on Lorelei having girl friends!
