'Trick or Treat' was a drastically underrated horror movie of its day. It had a brilliant soundtrack by 'Fastway' and cool cameos by Gene Simmons and Ozzy Osborne. I saw this movie at an actual 1st run movie theatre in 1985. Big sound, big picture and all the elements of an 80s slasher/horror film which should have compelled it into the realm of 'Friday the 13th'. Nonetheless, this movie is a forgotten standout from the glorious genre of the day. 'Sammi Curr lives!'.

The soundtrack by Fastway (featuring Fast Eddie Clark of Motorhead) is great. I enjoyed that album very much in the 80's. I think Billy Bob on the stretcher was the school mascot. The actor who played Sammi Curr, Tony Fields, died in 1995.

Perfect timing! Only watched this classic gem with my new girl last week as she had never seen it before, she was born the year after it came out haha Everybody should see this movie at least once. I used to watch it religiously as a kid back in the VHS days of the mid 80's. Found it on DVD only a couple of years ago, under its German title 'Ragman' (it was also released as 'Death At 33 & a 1/3rd' in some territories). I always remembered director Charles Martin-Smith (who also appears in the film as Mr.Wimbley) as the band leader of the fictional college rock group 'Cotton Candy' from the Ron Howard 1978 TV movie of the same name, which starred his brother Clint Howard, who was busy doing 'The Wraith', another cult horror film from '86 with a great hard rock/metal soundtrack at the same time 'Trick Or Treat' was being filmed, with Charlie Sheen & Sherilyn Fenn. Oddly enough more people today remember the Fastway soundtrack than the film itself, but both went hand in hand (Fast Eddie Clark RIP). Of course the cameos from Gene Simmons as DJ Nuke & Ozzy Osbourne's finest film role as Rev.Aaron Gilstrom are remembered. Simmons was offered the part of Sammi Curr initially but turned it down due to KISS touring for 'Asylum' & his acting commitment in 'Never Too Young To Die' (w/Vanity & John Stamos), but instead he offered a good Wolfman Jack-inspired cameo performance as Nuke. Blackie Lawless was then pursued for the part of Sammi Curr & nearly signed on until he refused to mime to the Fastway songs intended, & as they had already recorded the album under the film contract he ultimately turned it down. W.A.S.P. was touring with KISS at that time too, in a strange twist of fate. Blackie would later miss out on being the T-1000 model antagonist in 'T2: Judgement Day' due to his height. Blackie would have certainly given the Sammi Curr role his presence (like his cameo in 'Dungeonmaster' or 'Ragewar', depending on your country), & also some musical credibility as he had switched back from bass to guitar for W.A.S.P. at that point, but he wouldn't have had the smooth professional dance moves of Tony Fields, and maybe Fields' unfamiliarity helped make the character more believable in a way. Ironically Elise Richards who played the bully antagonist Tim Hainley's girlfriend Genie Wooster in 'Trick Or Treat' had appeared as one of the nurses in W.A.S.P.'s 'L.O.V.E. Machine' music video 2 years prior, whilst Hainley's actor Doug Savant would appear again with Gene Simmons in 'Red Surf' from 1989 (also starring George Clooney). Marc Price did a great job with a very relatable character in Eddie 'Ragman' Weinbauer, as I was the metal kid in school then fighting my own daily battles too, but managed to convert a few friends along the way. Pity most only remember Price as Skip from 'Family Ties' because this role was far better. And Weinbauer's mother Angie was played by Elaine Joyce from the 1980 horror-comedy 'Motel Hell', which also featured the real Wolfman Jack. But of course you would know all this trivial stuff because you are the movie maestro Sean! Kudos & thanks for all your tireless efforts & in-depth research in making this one of the most informative & coolest channels on the internet. Sammi Curr lives indeed 🤘

This is the single, most comprehensive telling of the history of one of my favorite movies of all times!!! This movie so accurately captures how it was back in the 80's for metal music; Outcasts, Satanic Panic, The PMRC. I saw this in the theatre when it came out and watch it multiple times every Halloween Season. As a metalhead and fan of most of the bands featured on Eddie's bedroom walls and the FastWay Soundtrack, I have been collecting everything I can "Trick Or Treat." If this movie ever gets a proper re-release, this video should be included in the Bonus Features. It is that good. Even as a major fan of the film I learned many things I didn't already know. Well done brother.
