To be honest, I've watched a lot of your videos and I really want to know which one you prefer, playing metal or breakdown, when choosing between sg std, sg custom, 64 sg, and les paul custom?Of course, their original pickups are different.

To me the Custom Shop stuff feels better, I can feel a lot more of the guitar from picking to fretting. Les Pauls really work well for me (Much more than SGs). Mostly because I prefer the thickness and weight. They feel a lot more balanced than SGs (Feel wise as SGs tend to have much more upper mid range with less low and low mid range in the playing). SGs are awesome, though. For Metal I tend to play a little on the sludgy side with SGs as they have a little more grit and top end to them that translates well to that type of playing. But Les Pauls have a more solid feel to them so I tend to play a little different with them. It's all preference though. We all like different things. I focus more on how a guitar feels and makes me feel, whereas a lot of other players focus on how the guitar looks or sounds. You can get awesome sounds out of a $200 Jackson or Epiphone. But when it comes to how they feel in comparison (and what you might be looking for) there is a Major difference to me. Cheers -Ryan

@@Crypticmaskguitar Thank you for your reply. It has helped me a lot.😑 Between the more expensive 1968 Les Paul Custom and the normal Les Paul Custom, would you also choose 1968 for playing with metal? Although it is a low-power pickup with only half the resistance of 498t, wood and details, craftsmanship seem to be better.

Craftsmanship is far and above on the '68 than the Modern Custom. I have no idea why the Modern Custom is priced so high... it's basically a USA lineup made in the Custom Shop. The '68 is probably the next guitar that I am going to buy, followed up by a '54 Les Paul and a '57 Les Paul Custom. The Reissue Guitars are unbelievable. Cheers -Ryan

Are the pickguards different? I have a 61 maestro reissue. The white on the custom shop looks more pronounced?
@Crypticmaskguitar3 ай бұрын
Yes. The pickguard is a slightly different shape and it uses different materials. Cheers -Ryan

@@Harrisabdit’s been 11 days. How is your research. Did you find a similar one? Would it fit a 61’ maestro?

Great riffage!

Is it just me or is the headstock bigger on the 64’? Or does it just appear like that because it lacks the washers that the 61’ has
@Crypticmaskguitar3 ай бұрын
Yes… yet another difference. There are a TON! The USA lineup uses a slightly altered Les Paul headstock, where as the VOS lineup uses period correct headstocks. They started getting a little bit wider as the years went on. Cheers -Ryan
