I appreciate Trident’s rod reviews, thx for another good one. Had good experiences buying from Trident also. I have fished a 7wt Blitz inshore & for bass & find it an excellent rod with lots of power that casts SA Titan Long, SA Grand Slam, & Rio Bonefish equally well with control & accuracy from 30-85’ with everything from unweighted poppers to weighted saltwater flies. Wouldn’t hesitate to use it for bonefish or big trout streamers. I’ve observed that casting & fishing any fly rod with different lines & flies is a personal experience based on perception, casting skill, specific usage, and line / rod pairing. I find the 7wt Blitz to be a genuine 7wt. Comparing it to the Sage Maverick, Atlas, and Loomis NRX+S, I think the Blitz fits right in with them in performance.

Looking to pair with a 8 wt sinking line or floating? How does it do with both?

I wish you had the Poseidon score back in the day of the venerable BVK; I’m betting it would probably be the high score TFO…

Is the rio striper line a lighter grain wt than the titan ? Because I found that the rods with more flex or slower action I would down size to a 7wt line on a 8wt

What would be a good line for the surf in Texas? The intermediate version of the striper line? Non summer heat conditions.

By the way, the composite fighting butts, although they don't look as nice, are more durable than straight cork.

I'm stuck with a 8 weight sa bass bug line (2 line sizes overweighted like the titan), could I possibly buy a 10 weight blitz and be fine?

Im coming from a sage igniter 7wt looking for a new 6wt with more "feel".Is this a better option in 6wt then a recon gen 2? going to fish searun trout from land and need a rod that can handle wind but also have more "feel"

What line would you recommend for a 7wt Blitz that will be used for Carp and Bass?
@WaldoWorld Жыл бұрын
I love seeing your videos! I'm really interested in a 6wt that can throw lighter streamers and hopper droppers on windy days. I might even use it for sea run cutthroat. Do you think this rod in the 6wt model would fity needs?

It would be a great rod for your needs!

@@richarde1355 thanks! I've been fishing my 6wt Blitz since March and it's absolutely amazing. I love the combination of speed and feel. I've used wf lines in the heavy end, and they load this rod fantasticly!!!

How does this rod compare with the new orvis recon? I’m deciding between the two. From your review the recon sounds better but the blitz has a higher Poseidon score

Doesn't the tfo bc big fly have rec guides? I'm pretty sure it does.

Great review I been waiting to hear your thoughts on this one as I have been looking at the blitz and the bc big fly now leaning more towards the bc big fly would love if you reviewed it also

if you could grade this rod based on its intended purpose that would probably help your audience, big flies at med distance
@Tridentflyfishing Жыл бұрын
It does pretty well at middle distances. As long as the fly line has enough mass to deliver the fly, it should be good to go.

American rods are frequently stated to be a half weight heaver than European rods, which for European conditions is generally a criticism.

I don’t know. If you have to know the secret to lining it and the company doesn’t tell you that, we’ll, maybe buy something else. BTW, thanks for telling us the secret!

@raywalteroutdoors4 ай бұрын
@chaseperkins5487 exactly, they are good for the price but spend more and you'll magically find better rods. T&T will never let you down in any way.
