I love LOVE my bootfoot waders. Once I started using bootfoot waders, they get used 80% of my fishing time. The convenient is unmatched, both putting them on and removing them.

Bootfoots are a must for surf fishing on sandy beaches. Probably the number 2 reason behind warmth.

Great topic. I like both. Stocking for better distance walking, and rugged/slippery river bottoms. I also install flippers over stocking foot for using float-tube in cold water. I like Booted for quick suit-up, and removal, especially with my bad back. If I could only have one it would be stocking foot though. Appreciate your channel. 👍👍👌

I have a pair of Orvis Sonic guide waders! I've had them for a few years now and i love em'! Honestly i have no idea why Orvis discontinued them??! They have the best stocking foot ive seen on a pair of waders to date!! They put these rubbery dont grips on the seams of the stocking feet. Just very well made! That being said my uncle owns two pairs of simms waders and their great too! Never failed him. He did buy the new freestone zip bootfoots and his only complaint was sizing. They dont come in short or long versions. Gotta have good waders if you want to have a good trip! I might buy wading pants next for the warmer months. Fish on! 🐟🎣

I have stocking waders because I have not had good luck with boot waders. Also I like that I can screw in my metal cleats when needed.

Aren’t boot foot much cheaper because you don’t also have to buy an expensive boot to go with your waders?

Also, it seems like even really high end boots aren't guaranteed to last very long. It's a very common complaint on Facebook groups I belong to.

You are spot on with your presentation .I wear boot foot waders from fall until spring while steelhead fishing.Much warmer in the feet.I use stocking foot from May through summer trout fishing.Actually I wet wade most of the summer with quick drying pants and my wading boots with studs.

Thanks for yet another great topic/video Ben. I choice boot foot this time around, the reason for me is the warmth factor. My feet seem to get cold easily no matter what I do and I fish a lot throughout the fall, winter and spring. I’m going to wet Wade through the summer months. Oh the waders I use are Orvis Pro boot foot and haven’t had any issues so far, I really like them.

I’ve had the pro BF and after one year of guide heavy use the only issue is a slight delamination on the left rear boot, aside from that no wetness no leaking

I fish year round wearing stocking foot and have no problems being cold in the winter. And it gets COLD here! I just upsize the wader a bit and layer up underneath. I like a little baggy wader anyways fits nice and no limit when it comes to mobility

Boot fit from cabelas for winter heavy insulation and neoprene. Spring and fall it depends on temperature but stocking foot when it’s warm and summers usually just good wading shoes maybe hip boots.. I’m in Michigan so it gets really cold sometimes we can’t fish some rivers because they freeze over. The best part about having both kinds is flexibility for different situations and you have a backup pair just in case.
@d.b.cooper7290 Жыл бұрын
I'm a big proponent of stocking foot. If you get a bootfoot stuck down in the mud and pull real hard, you can have your foot come out of the boot and you are screwed. Your leg is stuck somewhere halfway up the wader leg and you will easily tip over into the water. With a stocking foot, the outside laced boot might come off but you are still standing and able to walk around while you recover your boot and lace it tighter. If you have ever seen anyone loaded down with decoys or fishing gear and stationary on 1 leg in a mud flat with water up to their crotch you will know that stocking foot is the best.

I think bootfoot hip waders are underrated. Fairly light and I can wear actual good footwear to hike in and then quickly switch to hip waders for the actual wading.

@skateboardingjesus400610 ай бұрын
Stocking foot for mobility and welly (boot) waders for warmth/convenience. Boot waders have that weak point on the rim because the rubber isn't tapered, instead having a very abrupt transition to the upper material.
@caseysimpson5255 ай бұрын
So ive been told in the past that boot foot isnt good for theud because you can "fall in your wader" as in the boot stays stuck in mud while your foot slides out. Have you ever seen this happen?

I need something for better rain gear. I am an oil field truck driver and when it storms all the rain gear I have tried sucks. Pants rip getting in and out of the truck, the Tank dikes flood and you need knee high boots..so I was thinking Waders would be an improvement over everyday rain gear.

I have one of my lungs that is 50% collapsed from an elevated diaphragm. Nothing I can do about it. I have went through several boot foot waders. Cheap to expensive. They all seem to last about 10 fishing trips before developing small pinhole leaks and then rapidly move to larger leaks. Most at the boot seam but not all. Bending over is difficult as I can’t breathe well when doing so. Is there an easy solution boot for stocking foot out there for folks with rare conditions like me? Or maybe something I can put on at home prior to the two hour drive?
@Waterfowler356 ай бұрын
Bootfoot waders tend to rub your calf raw at the top of the boot. I have to wear sweats under mine to prevent it. Sucks on a hot day and deep mud will pull you out of the boots sometimes when it gets the suction effect.

If you're like me you ultimately end up with multiple waders. I do like bootfoot waders because they are easier to put on. As an older man with back issues, arthritis in fingers, and a big belly. Tying boot laces is not as easy as it once was. That being said, the light weight stocking foot waders are great when it is warmer, and when you have to walk a good distance to get to the water. I will probably always have a least one pair of bootfoot waders, and they may become my primary the older I get, as I tend to fish closer to vehicle or cabin these days, and they are the best in colder water and days.

What afforadable boot fit waders do you like? I'm 5'6" 160lb. Need for winter river trout fly fishing and to use with electric sox from Costco. thanks!!
@davidshoemaker443723 күн бұрын
@bobconley6954 I am a big chubby guy so I get waders that have fat guy sizes. It is a roll of a dice when buying online. If you can go somewhere you can try is always a good way to find something comfortable. Also, on a side note I would stay away form electric sock, the can cause your feet to sweat. I use a anti perspiration spray or powder, and good wool socks, also always have spare socks, dry feet are happy feet.

Interesting however I think your points are a little flawed. I'm going to have to pack boots anyway so no space saving is made and you can wash them down, just use soapy water and a hose. A better fit...hmmm, just buy a pair that fits well then. Also , the boots I'd have to buy to go over neoprene would have to be larger than my normal ones so I'd have to shell out even more for boots that I can't normally wear. I don't know, I'll try the boot foot I think.
