Absolutely gorgeous boat! One of the prettiest boats on the water. We have a 1965 model, #257, which is one of the early fiberglass models and she gets compliments everywhere she goes. I have great respect for Jim Elk and his team for the craftsmanship and hours they put in to keep these beautiful boats around! Thank you!

Thanks, great video, and awesome restoration. I raced with a fleet of L16's out of Newport Harbor, Southern California in the early 1960's. The L16 was named Shibui. There were about 20 boats in the fleet, 8 to12 raced weekly. What a memory as I am 80 now.

What a lovely boat and a well done video. There is surprisingly little content about these on KZbin; thanks for posting. For years my dad raced his L-16 in the Chicago fleet where I learned the ropes as a young lad. I have many fond memories of Saturday races out of Belmont - the mad scramble to get to the harbor and ready the boat, the intensity of the stop watch and the starting line, the light air days keeping still and desperately trying to just keep the spinnaker full, the heavy days when a puff might bring some water over the combing and "one hand for the boat" wasn't always enough for a boat that heels like an L-16 being raced hard in a stiff wind. Sadly, though there are still a few L-16 in Chicago, I don't believe they're an active racing fleet anymore, but it's great to hear the Mount Desert fleet is still going strong. They are definitely a blast to sail!

Summer days on the watermelon jeez best things ever. Lazy races in the sound out of butlers.
