I remember Brian Trifon playing this for us in an auditorium with a better sound system than our regular classroom, as we were his synthesis 101 students at the time. I had the distinct feeling I was watching a modern miracle, the perfect marriage of digital synthesis, musicality and human expression. 13 years later this still stands as a pinnacle example of physical modelling synthesis, i don't think anyone has ever created something on par that I've heard. Just fantastic work.

Veridian one must wonder what came to mind when this dense, dark and creative song was conceived. Was it a reaction to a perceived darkness, or was it embracing something great, creative but maybe as much destructive. This song does pull you in a different world... A world of clouds where lightning are as normal as the few rays of sunlight hoping to pierce through the dense air and reaching you.

Andy Liew don't worry. Just like it is said that the light of stars takes eons before being able to grace us with their touch, often great work of art will reveal themselves to us either when our mind is ready or when we've truly aimed to touch greatness. Cheers!

Gerard Beaubrun Well said, my friend. Speaking of great work of art, have you been graced to listen to the one and only band called Tool yet? I suggest that you lend them your ears and let me know what you think! You can start with some of their masterpieces like Lateralus or Right In Two.
@GerardBeaubrun10 жыл бұрын
Andy Liew I"m pleased that you'd took time to recommend me great music. As a musician who started as a classical pianist, studied jazz I had my eyes open to recognize music that either touches or expands the soul. I will listen to your recommendations and write my impressions on them :) I hope to hear from you again :0
@LINKENSSPHERE10 жыл бұрын
Gerard Beaubrun All for the greater good of sharing music, my friend. I hope you enjoy listening to Tool as I have yet to find one person who disagrees in their absolute brilliance! Seeing as though you studied Jazz, I thought I'd also recommend you an instrumental band, Animals As Leaders. You can start out with On Impulse, CAFO and my personal favorite, The Woven Web. :)

I love how the video complements the music... That it's so robotic (yet alive) at first, but then it moves on to scenes nature.. then it's artificial again.. but in the whole, it's all about the girl. Is she a robot (very ghost-in-the-shell-ish). Very beautiful. The music in that video (and other stuff I've heard in the band's myspace) also reminds me a lot of the soundtrack for Mirror's Edge (the game). Awesome.

Gentle and bittersweet like a faint whisper of the coming apocalypse, trifonic contrast the lullaby like motion of the innocent harps with a barrage of electronic fervor. As our ears regale on a dub-step backdrop to which a story must unfold, it's hard not to let our mind imagine what images are being expressed as the song starts. Chaos of steady drumming laying the floor echoes of soul strapped around impressive sound effects that authentically represent the very soul of what electric danger would be. Through this dark tapestry the different sounds appearing one after the other as witnesses to the birth of something ominous or the last moment of havoc wreaked by something that saw light as light. The grating guitar carries a melody walking hand in hand with the bass, hesitating and stumping on the same notes when all of a sudden the innocent harp plucks, dances, weaves hope in our mind...Gentle and bittersweet like a faint whisper of the coming apocalypse.
