"Only a psychotic would do that, leave the house unlocked with a note on the door?!" Robert Downey Jr is so funny in this. I love his animating acting here. Also, Keanu Reeves seems way more expressive back then. Seriously love this movie. Top notch. For anyone that hasn't read the book, i highly recommend it. Also, A Waking Life from this director is super trippy and philosophical. It was filmed in this technique, but then they had a bunch of different artists also draw over each frame, progressively making it tripper as the movie goes on.

I'm currently reading through the book for the first time, and I'm so relieved that most of this dialogue is lifted straight from the pages. So far very impressed by the fealty to the source material.

Your not stupid, its a common mistake, perhaps you had Robert Downey on the brain. I just clarified in respect of Hunter, as he is no longer with us, and can't clarify for himself. Rest In Peace.

True. I have much respect for the man.

A dear friend of mine had the honor of interviewing Hunter S Thompson for articles he wrote for Spin and Rolling Stone magazines. Kevin Simonson spent quality time with Hunter and this is why I know his name, Kevin taught me lots about the man, prior to his suicide death. Johnny Depp made sure Hunters wishes happened, which were for his ashes to be shot from a cannon.

Yep, I agree, the characters are so bold! (I don't think much of Donna, though.) And Keanu Reeves looks like he lacks character a little bit, but he did a good job playing confusion and searching for identity. This might well be his best role.

it blows my mind how the sum scenes of this movie can only, in all fairness, be called merely a 'good', or maybe, 'very good' movie, yet when one sits down and watches the isolated scenes one by one, the majority of them are utterly brilliant. i take a bit of pride in my versatility in knowing the history of movies across many nations, yet i can't think of a single other movie in which the above-mentioned was the case. anybody here know what i mean?
