Something to consider. I bought a used RMR Type 1 on eBay used for $200 back in 2012. I used it for almost 3 years as a top mounted ACOG red dot. The battery spring connection ended up getting weak and broke after changing a battery. I contacted Trijicon and asked them how much it was to fix. They said they'd look at it for free and sent me a RMA. I shipped it to them and 2 weeks later a received an email for a shipping receipt. Trijicon sent me a brand new RMR type 2 at no cost to me. I didn't ask for it and I was expecting Trijicon to at least tell me $20 plus shipping to fix the battery connection. Instead, they replaced it and sent me the newest model. That's a pretty nice warranty if you ask me. That's part of what you're paying for.

Here's my question. If the fake one holds zero and doesn't shut off during firing and its only going to be used at the range is it really worth spending 10 times as much on the real SRO?

It depends. If you actually plan on using it and want a company that stands by their products then it might be. If you don't really care and are willing to buy another or something else if it breaks, then no. Trijicon won me when I bought a used RMR type 1 on eBay. Used it for 3 years and it finally 💩the bed. Contacted Trijicon and asked how much it was to fix it. They sent me a RMA and 2 weeks later they sent me a brand new RMR type 2 at no cost to me that I didn't ask for. That's a pretty dope warranty if you ask me.

There are several reviews of these two. The fake one got good reviews. Based on other reviews, I'd get the cheaper one. It's all I can afford. HUGE price difference. I'm retired on a fixed income.

OK JS, since you do so many SRO vids.... do you know about the BROS? Jagerwerx makes it. For mounting on rifle. Ive got one at 35 degrees n feel like its pretty safe. Safe enough imo.

Knock offs have their place, just not on my weapon. I’m a fan of high value products, but faking the funk with the Trijicon markings is going too far.

its a dam good look alike..if you got the money to get THE REAL ONE then you do what you do, most people can"t afford actual SRO. So get whatever you can afford.still going to work...!!!!!!!!

Go real for a real gun every time as a dot riding the slide can face up to 7k in lbs of force. That said, I would get one of the knock offs for my green gas airsoft pistola

None of that seems important about the ridge or the lettering. Good thing you mentioned it 20 times. Did you shoot with it? Does it hold zero. Is it durable? I couldn't give a shit about painted on letters. I'd rather both be blacked out and say nothing.
