Great video. I am pleased you kept the engine sound and airflow rather than music, it brought back memories from when I used to fly a Pegasus Q.

the pilot seems to be fighting the control bar, rather than letting it dance.

Often best to just let the machine fly itself and damp the sharp movements by hand. Sometimes easier said than done though.
@rkwill1007 жыл бұрын
strongly suggest: hook your fingers over the control bar, drape your wrists and elbows. Bring your elbows into your sides (rather than spread out like chicken wings) Drop your wrists, let your fingers carry the weight of your arms rather than arching over the control bar. This will give you much more secure control, without ever touching the downtubes.

rkwill100 I agree, you shouldn’t ever feel like your fighting against the aircraft, relax, depending on the wing, they tend to take a moment to “catch up” after a control input is made, if you’re fighting the control you’re making it harder on yourself. Let the trike do its thing, relax, keep an eye on your airspeed and all will be ok. 👍

Thanks for the experience. I would love to know as I have never yet seen airworthiness comparisons to delta trike vs Paraglider trike. How would a paraglider trike done in those same conditions?
@huffpappy5 жыл бұрын
The paramotor trike would not have done very well. This is a paramotor crash that resulted from wing collapse in turbulence kzbin.info/www/bejne/e569aqtrgNSjhZY Being in a trike wouldn't have made a difference. There is a great difference in how a quite rigid flex wing delta trike, and a parawing held in shape by ram air pressure handle turbulence. I'll stick to a delta trike.

If you look at trike POH like the Revo the max cross wind is 10 to 12 MPH. Henry GyroLife KZbin channel he used to fly a revo he switched to a Gryo he said in the comments that he never felt comfortable in a trike when it was windy. Always having to monitor the weather.
@mcchazza Жыл бұрын
Let's be clear - when POH refers to a "max cross wind" it is the max cross wind _on landing_ it is talking about. Winds when aloft are not much of an issue, more so even in a flexwing which, since it is open, just lets the wind blow through it. Yes, you get thrown around a bit when gusty but I have flown in 25kt / 30 mph cross winds when aloft with no issues at all.

It is always good airmanship to study the wx and to ask yourself whether it is safe to fly in such conditions. I would say that you taking quite a risk with such wx conditions. You might not be quite so lucky next time . . . . 😎😎

You seem to be fighting every little control bar movement. That will fatigue you very quickly. Use just enough control bar movement to heard the trike in the desired direction.

If the control bar isn't hitting the pilot in the head the turbulence isn't that bad. :-)

suggest the pilot drop his wrists, so the fingers are supporting the arm, etc rather than the muscles in the arm supporting the arm, much less tiriing if only the fingers are doing the work.

Vaya, pues sí que había fuertes turbulencias para un trike.....suerte que la pista era ancha de sobra......Un saludo.

How many km you can fly for 20 litres of petrol
@phillsmith19015 жыл бұрын
Flexwings typically burn about 7-12 litres per hour. A comfortable speed is often between about 70mph to 85mph ish.

Those conditions would be great for a hang glider pilot. A little turbulence such as displayed is typical if not tame for good soaring. Relax. You are a falcon hunting for prey, not a twitchy, fearful little mouse.
