Good info! Some of us live rurally and have many of these plants that are not exposed to herbicides. I have used the jewel weed. It commonly grows alongside stinging nettle. We were bringing kayaks from a river and didn’t see the nettle. I will never forget how bad it stung my legs. Jewel weed helped so much. We have been using our dandelion. I made blossom tea and we had buds and leaves in salads. People need to stop killing everything! Someday, they may need to eat it.

If you want to also research about stinging nettle. It is great for seasonal allergies and hormone regulating for men. Just boil the young leaves and drink them when you start getting an itchy nose or sneezing because of spring allergies. I used to keep it in my fridge in a jar when we lived in a place where it grew.

This video could be highly dangerous since it encourages people to use garden plants as medicine. Someone could mistakenly identify toxic plants as the ones shown in the video and end up poisoning themselves......

Haven't seen this little plant in ages. As a child we found in the woods and gathered a few to put in drawers with our folded clothes. Such a plesant smell. Mana called it sweet bulb but we never used it as a herb.

Great video! I have most of those in my yard and have eaten the sorrel. It's delicious. Another nice thing about the red clover is that it is beneficial for garden soil because it adds nitrogen to the soil. It's often used as a cover crop after harvests and tilled under before the new planting season.
@TrilliumWildEdibles5 жыл бұрын
Yes, clovers are very valuable to creating a healthy soil ecosystem. White clover adds trace minerals as well as nitrogen, more clovers the better!

@@debbierabe1756 I know I’m a little late to this but if your still curious nearly every part of red clover is edible. Its leaves and seeds can be used in various recipes, but the widely preferred part of this edible plant is its flowers. The round red blossoms have a sweet, bean-like flavor. They can be eaten raw as an edible garnish in salads and other dishes. I’ve also heard of people using it in tea.

When talking about plants, I think it would be a great idea to also tell whip parts of the plant are edible and which are not. And some tips as to how to use them. For example if it is leaves, if you can describe how the leaves are used for medicine or for cooking, that would be really helpful.

There are many great resources available, not only on KZbin but in physical media like books. I have several videos dedicated to different guides and books you might find appealing. You can find them in the playlist on my channel titled: Wild Plant Book Reviews. Beyond that there are even more resources available. Things like your local college or DNR and various extensions through those. Your county may have a local agricultural extension to help guide you to more local resources of information, plus you can always look online to find an instructor in your area or find events taking place that focus on wild edibles/medicinal plants. I might be able to help more if I knew where you were located so I could provide you with more localized information/resources to check. Hope this helps and good luck in your search! If you have any more questions feel free to ask.
