Amazing how one simple animal like lystrosaurus could basically take over the world.
@girlgarde
@girlgarde 5 жыл бұрын
It only took over because its competitors and predators were pretty much wiped out in the Great Dying. When the climate changed and new competition along with better predators arose, the number of Lystrosaurs declined and its descendants would get rarer over time.

No one species of animal life on Earth would again dominate the world after Lystrosaurus until Humanity arose.

@@girlgarde Seems like an endless evolutionary cycle. The jack-of-all-trades dominates the landscape until newer, more specialised animals com along and squeeze them out of their niches. Then the specialists dominate until the climate and food they are used to disappears, and new jacks-of-all-trades manage to come along and take over. And so on and so on and so on...

I love how at 3:46 it hits the camera lmao. I love it when the walking withs do this, like in WWB when the australopithecus break the camera lens with the rocks, and when the baby paraceratherium knocks over the camera, and in WWD when the t. rex spits on the camera. You can tell these weren't for realism, but just fun little inside jokes from the creators probably.

Lystrosaurus (name meaning "Shovel Lizard") is a genus of dicynodont therapsids that originated during the Late Permian Era in what is now Antarctica, Asia, Europe, and Africa. Measuring over 2 meters in length, Lystrosaurus was a relatively large, herbivorous mammal-like reptile with two tusks and a beak-like mouth.
