This man lives and breathes music. Watching him perform live was nothing less than a pilgrimage for me. Thank you, Trilok

Quanta gente talentosa nesse mundo?!?!?! Não faz sentido ficarmos aprisionados à musicas e culturas ocidentais dos países hegemônicos. Viva a África! Viva a Índia! Viva a musica árabe e da América Latina ❤

I remember very well once I bought this album because Trilok is heading it: It took years until I gave it a chance to really come into my mind and my heart. It was at one of these nights which are sleepless - maybe it was some work to.... However, after several hours of looping this album again and again I recognized its value. It's a masterpiece and maybe it's even the best that Trilok ever has made. P.S. www.discogs.com/Trilok-Gurtu-Frikyiwa-Family-Farakala/release/3161334

Trilok is way too hyper for these guys. He's into control and they are into flow.

he wants to record. what you call control is in fact composition.

Le titre de cette video est trompeur. Au debut je reconnais tres bien Ali Boulo Santo, un des meilleurs koriste du Sénégal, et non pas du Mali

Not much connection. Trilok just doesn't get African Griot music. It's obvious when he stops in the middle of a song and says,"Something has to happen." This video is a train wreck.

...doesn't get what?? I know you wrote this 3 years ago, but he's getting all of it, man. Proof is the satisfaction of the local musicians when he plays "their" rhythms. Of course he's not African, but his musicianship makes him really get into the African musical matter. And when he says "Something has to happen", he's talking about the structure of the song.

He is a composer, not a collector of local traditional music.
