The eighth Jyotirlinga site is called trimbakeshwar. It is located in Nashik trimbakeshwar Temple the state of Maharashtra. At the foot of the Brahmagiri Hills, the Godavari River originates and flows around the Thirayambakeswarar Temple. According to the name of Triyambam
The unique feature of the Shiva Lingam is that it is located with the faces of the trinity of Brahma, Vishnu and Uruthiran. The main reason for setting up this temple here is Gautama Maharishi. Eason, who was delighted with Gautama's devotion and worship, appeared here in the form of Triyambakeswarar.
The Triyambakeshwar Jyotirlinga is wrapped in gold and displayed every Monday. The crown on this golden armor is adorned with diamonds, emeralds and many other precious stones.
This crown is said to have been donated by the Pandavas.
The Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga was once adorned with the Nashik diamond. It is disappointing that the temple does not have that precious diamond now. It is noteworthy that this diamond, which has since been in the UK, moved to different countries at different times and is currently owned by a private executive in the United States.
Triyambakeshwar Temple is surrounded by lush green hills, untouched by natural beauty. Visiting this place is a great boon for the devotees.
Gautama Sage is a very powerful Maharishi. Gautama and his wife Agalyadevi together performed 1000 years of intense penance on this Brahmagiri peak. Thus there was a great famine in the land; Without food and water to drink, the people and wildlife of the country suffered greatly.
The tree, the plant, the vines have dried up. The earth has dried up and looked like a milky forest.
Knowing the situation in the country, Gautama Maharishi was very upset. He intended to find a solution to this and repented to Lord Varuna for 6 months. Varun appeared before him and told you to dig a pond and I would fill it with water so that it would continue to soak. Varuna Thevar disappeared claiming to be a fountain of eternal life.
According to him, Gautama dug a pond and filled it with water so that he could perform puja rituals. The vines in the vicinity of the lake flourished. All life lived happily ever after. On hearing this, sages and rishis from various parts of the country came and set up a parnasala around the area. The Pathinis of the Rishis, who were jealous of Gautama's wife Agalya, used to slander Gautama and fight with Gautama every day. And turned their husbands against Gautama Rishi and his wife.
But Gautama Sage did not worry about all this and remained calm in doing his eternal duties. Seeing this, Gautama Dharpa took the grass and chased away the cows. When the grass fell on the cow it fell to the ground but he did not know that it was the enemy's plot. That is why those jealous Rishis who were waiting for you surrounded Gautama and made you cow. It is a sin to look at you. They tell you to leave immediately. Without saying a word, Gautama and his wife left and set up a hut somewhere else. Let go of those Rishis and go to his hut where he is staying, Gautama. We will have difficulties when we see you. The angels do not come to the sacrifices we make because you are near. The aur parts placed in the homam do not go to the gods or the patriarchal angels. So you have no choice but to stay here. They shouted, "Go and atone for your sins."
As soon as Gautama asked you to tell him the remedy for that, the Rishis immediately told you to go around the earth three times and do penance without food for a month. You have to go around this Brahmagiri 108 times. The Ganges must be brought here. You have to anoint and worship crores of Shiva lingams with that water .Then you have to anoint Shiva with a hundred jugs of water .Then only then will your cowherd dosha be removed. Gautama accepted what they said and began to make amends with his wife. During the penance, Shiva was worshiped with reverence. Delighted with Gautama's piety and patience, Lord Shiva showed him the scene and asked him what boon he wanted. To which Gautama Devadeva said that my life was over by your vision and I want nothing more. Lord Shiva is the foremost of you Rishis. They tortured you because they could not stand your fame. Forgive them. Gautama Swami replied that they had done me good and that if they had not done so, I would not have received your vision. Knowingly or unknowingly they looked at me saying that they had done me harm and good.Delighted to hear his response, Lord Shiva Gautama, I accept your request and present the Yan Ganga here. This Ganga is said to have spread here under the name of Gautami. He also disappeared from the Gautami Tirtha in the form of Jyotirlinga in the name of Yan Triyambakeswarar saying that he would bless the devotees. Accordingly here Lord Shiva appears as Jyotirlinga in the form of Triyambakeshwar.
