This video shows how to trim a huge bowl with a pocket foot (or recessed foot). This is part 2 of a 3 video series showing how to throw, trim, and decorate a large bowl.

To trim this style of foot, I first trim the wall into one curving line. Then, I begin removing clay from the center of the foot. As I go deeper, I constantly test the clay. If it flexes, that means it's at the proper thickness and it's time to stop trimming.
As I trim, usually I can make the foot a little bit lower and deeper, as shown in this video. Finally, I dry the bowl under plastic so that there is no cracking or stress on the bowl.
