I trimmed "the Druid Craft tarot" and the result was amazing. Now I love it.

For those checking out the comments, piece of advice: if you trim with a straight edge cutter rather than scissors, you don’t get jagged edges. Might still be a bit uneven but I’ve had a lot better results with a straight edge rather than scissors. Also don’t cheap out on a corner cutter. Last thing you want is to labor over cutting off all those borders only to ruin a card with a corner cutter that doesn’t work right.

Great advice. I tried to use a rather dull corner rounder once and it nearly ruined the card. That's the last time I let my sister borrow it to use it for her wedding invitations, and it better be because I'm not giving another speech.

Light of Ryga you should invest in a straight edge paper cutter. If you can afford $40, you can the guillotine one from xacto that’s amazing it shaves off hours of working with a scissors. Switching to it was definitely the way to go for me. Just a thought :)

Loved this video! Thanks for giving me courage...I have been contemplating trimming a couple of my decks for months but was too scared to ruin it. I’m going to start trimming the first one tonight! I don’t think they all need it but the white borders on some of them really bother me. I also loved how you courageously chopped off the words of that one deck...I have been thinking of doing that with one of my unusual decks because the words they printed don’t always make sense to me and I think they distract and skew my readings. Without the words, I’m freer to read intuitively and not be bound by what the deck literally says.

I agree that some keywords are really off-putting. In the case of the Llewellyn Tarot, those keywords would only help a reader if they had memorized the book or are a celtic historian. Add in a HUGE border and they had to go. Keep us updated on how your trimming goes. I'm curious to hear what you have to say about the experience.

Good effort. Thanks for the practical overview. The Hobbit deck looks significantly better after the trim. Worth the effort I would say.

It's actually kind of fun and cathartic. I find that physically altering the cards helps connect you more deeply with them.

You can always buy one of those machines that cut straight for you.

Borders may have other issues, but it it the other framing in cards that hurts the look on some decks. Borders of Tarot harken both to church art origins and how it is more living of a book. Copyright information and other stuff on such decks is tacky at best. I do understand sacrificing universal value and shuffling ease for intimacy with a deck. Large decks like The Druid Craft Tarot need to have a regular sized version where the borders are what the reduction of size comes from.

Hello, thanks for your review. I agree with you about trimming the decks. When I can that

Thanks for your comment. The deck in position 1 is the Llewellyn Classic Tarot. You can find a deck review for that deck on my channel. The deck in the 5th position is the Modern Spellcasters Tarot. I hope that helps.

The reason why tarots are printed with a border is because it's more cheap. All decks are printed with a border and borderless are being cut by the printing with a paper guillotine almost one by one, so that would make the deck more expensive.
