46441 is actually back on a line it was no stranger to in the 1950's and 60's, being a frequent sight on excursion trains to Lakeside from Morecambe among other places. Had Lancashire County Council not severed the Lakeside Branch in the 1970's when they re-aligned the A590 across the trackbed at Haverthwaite and Greenodd, it may have been based here for much longer, as it was originally bought for use on the Lakeside Branch when its preservation was first mooted after closure in 1965. My attempts to trigger renewed interest in re-building the Haverthwaite - Plumpton Junction section by a letter to Heritage Railway magazine in the year 2000, which briefly snowballed among local councillors and journalists, sadly seem to have failed for now, despite the line's huge potential for park-and-ride services to Lake Windermere and for incoming charter trains connecting with the steamers, on a par with the Swanage Railway's Norden operation, being obvious.

I remember that engine back in 2005 when I went to the Ribble Steam Railway! I was only 1 at the time and that engine used to scare me a lot, as it was huge (as other engines are large too) and right at the front!

Great news and a great record of the arrival. As you say you were very lucky to catch that.

gaspode2005 indeed I was, glad you liked the video, took over an hour just to render in 4K!

I stick to 1080 - my aging IT system can't cope with 4K! I'm based in Kendal so all being well I'll pop over to Haverthwaite sometime this week.

Please keep her in that Maroon livery! It makes her stand out from her other sisters, personally speaking. XD

great to see a new loco at haverthwaite love this railway been visiting it for aslong as i can remember would be nice if they could extent the railway to give the locos a longer run but am sure they are tired of hearing that lol
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Completely agree, nice to see a new loco, especially one that's "original" to the line. The problem with extending the line would, of course, be the A590
@OlanKenny6 жыл бұрын
I'm sure if the money existed they could cross the 590 however I have a strong suspicion that the money required isn't available. Can't imagine they wouldn't like to do longer runs down all the way to Ulverston to connect to the mainline.

Thanks for the great video. Does the white cab roof mean she pulled a royal train?

Hi Peter, the cab roof is actually black, I think it must just be the reflection of the bright light

Great stuff I saw a post on L&H twitter page. Great they get use of another ex mainliner is there any idea when its overhaul will be started
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Can't say for certain, but given that Barclay 0-4-0ST "David" is already mid-overhaul, as is 42085, I would imagine some time after one has finished.
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Update for you, they believe the overhaul will take 18 months to 2 years, dependant upon workload
@kineticrail6 жыл бұрын
Tring's Trains Productions oh right brilliant so they will be making a start soon
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Hopefully, have been told that the boiler is to be overhauled at carnforth (same as 42085's i think) but the frames/motion will be done in-house. I would suspect the overhaul will properly start once the operating season is over, so about October. Could be completely wrong mind you, I stand to be corrected

Is Haverthwaite the permeant home for the engine?
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
I believe so, certainly seeing as though she needs a full overhaul to return to service. I'd imagine L&HR would want their money's worth
@MasterMoyle6 жыл бұрын
Last time we had an engine of that size at Haverthwaite was 44806 in the 1970's.
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Only steamed there for a few months after opening did it not? Inner firebox collapse I'm told. Shame it wasn't brought down for the 40th anniversary for a weekend
@SecondValveSteam4 жыл бұрын
@@TringsTrainsProductions Apparently it was just too large and visibility was poor in reverse. It would be nice to see 806 at the L&HR, but speaking as a NYMR volunteer it would be even nicer if they sent us one of the Fairburns in return!
@steamlocomotivesltdjamesh67606 жыл бұрын
Why doesent Chris beat take her to carnforth then she can go mainline
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
James Hardy I believe it is actually betty beet who is the owner now, and there is no real demand for a mainline 2mt. Besides, after 15+ years on static display, can't we all just be glad she's being restored to run on the line that she used to work and was preserved because of her purchase?
@steamlocomotivesltdjamesh67606 жыл бұрын
Tring's Trains Productions nice to see a tender locomotive at the lakeside and Haverthwaite railway tho and I do believe she was at carnforth fore a period
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
James Hardy I agree, and yes, she was mainline at Carnforth for quite a while, there's a handful of videos on KZbin of her on the mainline
@OlanKenny6 жыл бұрын
Carnforth, I should imagine is pretty full. Plus it's not really big enough to do a long enough money earning run I shouldn't think.
@TringsTrainsProductions6 жыл бұрын
Olan Kenny hard to say really, given the boiler is going to Carnforth for overhaul
