As a trini, I respect this review. Trinidadians are defensive people who don't take misconceptions or misinterpretations of their culture lightly. I think it comes with the territory of being such a small nation. No one is spared, you can be a trini yourself and still get dragged (so it's nothing personal). I think a lot of people didn't know it was an LA based restaurant and also some of the generalizations made.

I have been watching you for a few years and I love your honesty, hence I continue to watch you. We Trinis are very sensitive about our country/culture. Down to Nicki Minaj tend to get dragged a lot from us for representing us incorrectly at times lol. It's almost like we alone in Trinidad can bad talk our country, not foreigners lol. I love that you highlighted the beauty of our country and the safety. It's not as bad as some people make it out to be. Most of the violence in Trinidad are mostly personal/domestic or Gang related but hardly random, we just mind our business. It is Rare you will find a random person doing a massacre, never really happened in Trinidad. You should definitely visit again. Btw, I am not fat though, I am slim..lol

In terms of eatin callaloo u don't eat it separate it goes with a side.. eg the corn pie or the macaroni pie that u ate by itself.. and the roti u can eat it like a burrito or open it up n eat it bt no one in trinidad told u to eat it with a spoon.. its hand to mouth (like how person from African continents eat their food)

I’m half Trinidadian 🇹🇹 & I didn’t really take offense that you didn’t like the food at that ONE particular restaurant. Overall the food in L.A tends to be very mid and nothing to write home about. Don’t expect much from any ethnic restaurant in L.A ; but Trinidadian food in general is typically very flavorful and DELICIOUS! 😋 I guess you were just being your goofy self mispronouncing the foods on purpose, but it can be offensive to someone who doesn’t know your sense of humor. I’m glad you enjoyed Trinidad tho & glad you loved the food you had there❤❤🇹🇹🇹🇹

1. Sarah’s letter was on point she depicted Trini’s so accurately 2. Somebody may have already said this, but the calalloo is like a sauce or a topping. Thank you for giving our food another chance I completely respect you for going above and beyond and shining such a good light on us. Looking forward for your vlog about your full stay.

My family and I went on a cruise about 10 years ago, but we missed the initial boarding and had to fly to Jamaica to catch the boat there. My dad decided to take this opportunity to show us the “real” Jamaica because the boat only stops at the resort. We didn’t pay a tour guide to take us around, we found a taxi driver to show us all the hotspots. We walked the markets like the locals, after the third day, the people at the market were convinced we wasn’t tourists 😂 I’m not doubting that Jamaica can be dangerous, but my experience there was amazing, nothing like how white peoples make it look on TV. It’s beautiful

Man Troyce, you crack me up🤣. I'm a Trini here and damn....I knew for sure my people weren't gonna let that video slide. Especially when you pronounced Roti as Ratti😭. Uh ,uh that's a no no! So I'd say to some extent you did look for that. On the other hand, i just place blame on that LA restaurant. They just didn't do a good job at represent us🥲🤷🏾‍♀️...unfortunately. Either way, I'm glad that you didn't let that discourage you from wanting to re-try it and even visit us! Glad you had a better experience with the food and enjoyed the island🥰. And yes you're right, most first world countries are always demonizing third world or smaller countries. We're kind of use to it by now, sigh. Like yes, Trinidad and Tobago and by extension the Caribbean does have its problems, especially in regards to crime....but like you said where in the world doesn't? What country is ever perfect? None, right?🤷🏾‍♀️ (That demonization, is mostly the reason as to why we're sometimes obsessed with a lot of first world products, the example being KFC. Most of us still has this "if it's from America/first world, it must be better" type mindset but oh well....) Thanks for coming again 🇹🇹.
