I LOVE using TDE. I'm currently using q4os. More videos regarding the TDE would be so nice. It's really underated. It's fast and efficient as well with tons of features!!!😀

I completely agree. I have fond memories of KDE 3.5. The icons are colorful and very expressive compared to modern Plasma desktop.

Thank you once again, Ermanno. I think what I value most about your content is you're constantly producing videos and concepts about things I previously did not know about. This video was totally interesting. You rock!

4:25 Sorry for the clueless question here. Why don't you have to type in the entire PGP key? Why do you start at 868?

I think because the 0x means hexadecimal and pacman can recognize it by matching the last 8 bytes. I think

Very interesting video! Do you know if Trinity is lighter than XFCE?
@pidusredlah2 жыл бұрын
It is. Especially after their move to GTK3.
@ShadowGD_OfficialYT2 жыл бұрын
@@pidusredlah Wait, Trinity is now based on GTK? But isn't it a fork of KDE 3, which is based on QT?

@@ShadowGD_OfficialYT XFCE moved, not TDE...
@hantimagyar2 жыл бұрын
Much lighter. TDE is almost as light as LXDE but with much more features. XFCE nowadays is not light, even KDE needs less memory.

Interesting video. TDE is SO old-school but it's a very nice DE. Personally I find it too "Windows-like" but I did wonder what would happen if you chose the MacOS option? I suppose panel at top and perhaps a more Finder style file manager? I think the options are a bit clumsy and confusing, a bit like the Enlightenment DE. KDE4 was the same but I think that Plasma has finally made this better. I would be very tempted to try this DE for fun on a spare machine sometime (I am not a fan of VMs). Thanks for the video!

yes, you get a top panel. install bagheera and you get an equivalent time mac look and feel.

Interesting, lightweight and old-school! However, what was all the fiddling with update of pacman before being able to install? Is it safe adding signatures like that? Thanks Ermanno for yet another interesting video!

It's safe. Just follow the instruction provided at Arch wiki.

I was not expecting to see a tutorial on how to fix the gpt keyring error, this issue would have been a deal breaker for most arch users who haven't got into the habit of checking the wiki.

Hi Ermanno, thank you for this video I was checking the official arch linux guide and the process is completely different they ask you to build directly the packages Which wiki are you following exactly where can I retrive it? Also on Trinity DE homepage they refer you to the arch wiki

The link is in the video description: wiki.archlinux.org/title/trinity#Installation You can install from binaries or build from source, as written in the first paragraph.

KDE 3.5 was awesome, then, with no choice, they gave us 4.0 and it was terrible.
@akshaymathur1362 жыл бұрын
they also had no choice. Qt3 was EOL, and the future was Qt4. And Qt4 was not backwards compatible, and required coding effort to port Qt3 applications to QT4. KDE4 is essentially a QT4 re write of KDE3, and they many of the initial issues with KDE were because of QT as well. By the time of Qt5 (which is why KDE4 became KDE Plasma 5), these issues and bugs were fixed, the devs had listened to the feedback and the overall product was a lot more mature. FYI, Qt5 is code compatible (mostly) with Qt4. You don't need a rewrite like you did with Qt3 -> QT4 transition. Most of the QT4 apps will compile and run fine without any change against Qt5 libs. Similar is the Qt5 -> Qt6 transition.

Trinity does have some live iso in a VM it doesn't matter which Iam running just to see the os I'm waiting for the download. Today is one of those days it is slow. We have an isp called Comcast and they do what they want despite laws 😂😂😂
