What a profound comment. I’m so moved. Caring for someone with dementia is incredibly challenging, and it sounds like you’re going through a very tough time. Your dedication and love are truly admirable, even when things are difficult. Remember to take care of yourself, too, and lean on support systems when you need them. You’re doing an amazing job. Sending you strength and compassion.

My mother LOVED this song…but she only knew the Ingram/Austin version. She was a choral director, mezzo soprano performer - rare, beautiful operatically trained voice. Music was her life. She knew of this choir, she listened to their Faure Requiem (beautiful). She died last month. It breaks my heart into 1000 pieces that she didn’t know of this wonderful version…she would have loved it. 😭 😭 😭

This is fantastic. When I saw the link title, and the date, this choral director thought...Oh... here will be some helpful tutorial about how to proceed with life without choral singing. Well, no, but thank you for this sensational gesture, reminding me of an example of all of the amazing choral singing that has been going on in the world. I am weeping as I write. We all corporately sigh as we figure out how to make music like this in masks and keep our droplets to ourselves. Sing on people. In gratitude.

Indeed- I was hoping to get some specific creative ideas I hadn't heard before on what to do with my choir since I have to teach them despite the dangers. So seriously, this is gorgeous, but if anyone has anything about how to run a choral rehearsal/program outside and with a mask, and with no in person performances practical, which is what the recommendations are, I want to hear it.

Oh my, those low notes...(and all the other notes too). I've recently been through a divorce and this is some of the best therapy imaginable! Thank you thank you thank you!!! My ex-wife and I saw Michel Legrand perform at Ronnie Scott's in 2011 - he made the piano sound like an orchestra - so many colours. He was also verrry funny. I'm sad that he is not around to hear this, but pleased that his music will never end.

Hi Ben, small world!! I actually enjoyed the honor of playing a concert with him back in the day! It was just extraordinary. We performed his suite from 'Umbrellas of Cherbourg' (spelling correct?), 'Pieces of Dreams', and this song as well. My eyes kept welling up, made it tough to see the music on my stand.

If music can bring people closer together, then it has probably achieved the highest of all goals. This song is undoubtedly a pearl and touches a lot of people very deeply in their hearts when it is arranged so masterfully, so courageously rehearsed and so lovingly and sensitively interpreted as we can experience it here. Many thanks to everyone involved! Every musician knows how much work it takes to make such a miracle happen.
