The Minnesota nights have brought on a killing frost. It's officially time to chop corn! The International 1256 on the New Holland 790 Corn Chopper gets right to work. Our International 1066 is hauling chopper boxes full of silage to the John Deere 4020 running the agbagger. Let's get some cow chow put away for winter!

Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. Subscribe today to watch our small family dairy farm and family grow while continuing to thank our Lord for the blessings we've been given.

Funny I came to this video. My first job was on a dairy farm where the main tractor was a 1066 Hydro almost new. That tractor just whistled. You're lucky to be farming.

Chopping corn was always my favorite season on the farm. Extra special in a dry fall with a good tall crop. Glad to see it went well for you and thanks for sharing!

Was always my best time of farming. Harvesting silage. Miss it but do not miss milking. Hate milking. We milked 150 every day and took 4 hours in the morning and 3-1/2 hours in the afternoon.3:30 every morning and 3:30 every afternoon. Then feeding cows, feeding dry cows and feeding calves. All the old folks gone now. So no worries. Thank god those days are gone.

In years to come you may want to consider making earlidge or high moisture ground ear corn. Your silo at the barn would work perfect for that.

How about putting some sideboards on the gravy wagon before you go picking this year. Fewer trips could save a bit in fuel.
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy Күн бұрын
I've thought of that. But I just spent 300.00 on the main drive belt for the picker, so bigger loads might be hard on that belt. I wish I could set it up to fill wagons being pulled alongside.

If things were right, would you consider your 530 to pull wagons? I only say because I spent the day hauling wagons over our hill with our 630 it didn't work out so bad.
@trinitydairy
@trinitydairy Күн бұрын
We did when we had smaller wagons, but it's pretty light in the rear-end, so I think it would spin out on the hills.

Never worry too much about being able to pull heavy wagons with a lighter tractor but it's always getting them stopped it becomes a question@@trinitydairy

Not a criticism just wondering why you don't use the 1066 to chop with the 1256 and 1066 according to the book is about equal in horse power just asking 🤔
