Trinity Dairy was established in 2006, in Minnesota. Alan and Jennifer farm with their 5 children; Jessica, Justin, Jordan, Joshua, and Jason. We milk a mix of 33 Jersey, Holstein, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, and Ayrshire cattle. We also enjoy sharing our family's love of Draft Horses and using them for logging and other farm work. Dairy Farming in Minnesota can be challenging, but it's a lifestyle we really enjoy. I too love to watch your plowing videos. I started plowing at the age of 10 on dad's WD Allis pulling a John Deere trip plow, 2-14s. It was an adventure plus a learning experience. He struck all the lands and finished the dead furrows. Fall plowing worked up so well in Spring; almost like our garden. Go for it, Alan!

A real nice video! I promise you, your kids, grandchildren, and great grandchildren will watch this video decades from now. I feel fortunate. There are a few clips on 8 mm of Dad chopping corn and filling silos back on a farmall H was the big horse. probably 30 seconds total. That 8 mm film and processing was darn expensive back in the day :-) even though they’re short I enjoy watching them. Yours will be a treasure. Thanks for sharing it with us!

Yes, there is something therapeutic about plowing. We did many years of plowing with a JD 630 and a three-bottom plow. Turn on the lights and hear that 630 work into the dark hours. Those 1256 and 1066's were/are very good tractors.

I have to agree with you 100% on the relaxation of Plowing Fields. It had to be my favorite job on the farm, I would start Plowing after evening milking and go till 2 or 3 in the morning. I kinda got Chewed on for plowing so late, But it was mt Therapy. I really love turning over new ground or old hay feilds, Had to be the best. Thanks for sharing this video, Has brought back many great memories.

You are oh so correct on a great video!!! I worked on a farm and we mainly chisel plowed and they farmed about 2600 acres and everything was chiseled, we had 2 IH 1586 which where definitely work horses! I also pulled soil samples for about 12 years, and we just dreaded it when we pull up on a no-till field UHG! The farmers I worked for were very good and they called the no tillers, NO SKILL!!!

Plowing looked great to me. I noticed that the corn stubble was really high--I know you have rocks in some of your fields, but in some places the cutter head on your chopper could be a little lower (2 to 3 inches). No big deal and I sure you know best. Keep up the good work--you have a great family.

ploughing looks great you could almost plant right into it. farm I grew up on is real heavy clay, if you don't plow it, you grow next to nothing. a few guys tried no till and went back to tillage after a few years.

I have an 856 Wheatland that I pull 5x16’s on land with. Has no issues in my clay and hills. I don’t set any speed records, but you don’t wanna go too fast anyway when moldboard plowing. Most people don’t understand the lugging power of the Old Iron tractors from the 50’s, 60’s, and 70’s. IH had some amazing pulling power! Just keep using your equipment the way you know best and don’t worry about the negative comments. I’m one of those subscribers that would gladly watch a 2 hour plowing video. Keep em coming! Great video too. God Bless

I'm a moldboard guy! Notill- compaction, needs to be moldboarded every few years! I love to plow, I'd live in the tractor! It's not like you're plowing right down to the beams like some of the old farmers would! My Philosophy is" I like my way of doing it, better than your way of not doing it! We bought a brand-new MF 178, right from England, went up to the ST. Larwance and got it off the ship, bought it to pull a IH 5-16"s , it would barely do it, went to and auction and bought a good used Allis XT190, no problem! this was in the early 70's

I guess I'm one that loves plowing. I just picked up a oliver 4340 3-14 plow for nothing from the guy next door, my grandpa actually sold it to him and now its back at our farm. I think tillage is better. Grandpa did no-till for a few years but we realized yields were better with tillage, we have good soil and theres plenty of people around us that no-till with good luck, we just got sick of it. They may say we're wasting money on tillage but in my opinion they're wasting just as much on chemicals for no-till. We are happy with the John deere 714 chisel, and I'm hoping to use my plow on my first ground next year. Thanks for the video!
