N780AN was Stored on 07/2017 It then was delivered to DHL on 1/15/2019. Waow I loaded and unloaded A/C N780AN for soooo many years at JFK, SJU, then at MIAMI. I miss them when they retire soon. Thx for flying with us. Peace out from American Airlines Miami HUB...👍👍🍺

Buddy N780AN is a 777-200ER that is still active with American XD If you're talking of this 757, N678AN, then yes it's with DHL now. I do miss these chrome birds as well and it'll be a huge shame when they're gone. In my opinion there really will never be a proper replacement for the 757!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAOOOW.. I washed and polished few times N678AN in TULSA Maintenance Base. The days that will never return. I remember in 1988 and 1989 when we used to operate former flight AA655 from New York Kennedy Airport operating our former A300-605ER with the old runway,😱

You should do a trip from KDFW to KMFE, try to get on an MD-80 flight down there. The runway is 7,300 feet, small for an MD-80 and it'll get some good JT8D noise!

No offence to Americans, but they are a bit dramatic. People near you scared about landing on water and the shock of the landing. I was in Las Vegas and the plane swerved during takeoff and everyone apart from us was screaming and then we had turbulence where the aircraft dropped a few hundred feet (completely normally). Relax, flying is safer than driving :-)
@JustinLHopkins7 жыл бұрын
Alex Penney I live in America, but have traveled to several different countries. The most screaming and panicking I’ve experienced was on a flight from Madrid to London. Overall, I don’t find Americans anymore dramatic when flying than Europeans. If a plane drops a “few hundred feet” as you say, people are going to panic regardless of where you are in the world. A deviation of a few hundred feet is rare and considered severe turbulence. The human brain did not evolve to fly, so whether you’re a brave person or not, the brain does not register flight as a common sensation and anxiety is a normal response to any significant abnormality. You can watch hundreds of turbulence videos from around the world on KZbin and they all have one thing in common. Screaming.

In reference to your comment about Lufthansa. They have been flying CLT-MUC for many years. Often with the A346. Prior to the AA/US merger US was Star Alliance along with LH so there was feed. But LH also runs the route because BMWs American plant is in NW South Carolina so the route serves to shuttle employees between as needed.

US airways used to be a part of the star alliance, so lufthansa would get plenty of traffic from them with codeshare flights, but I assume that because the flight was already established, Charlotte already had plenty of demand for the Germany route

Btw, have American repainted their Mad dogs? I think American is partly delaying the repainting because , the longer an aircraft has the old livery, the less fuel it will burn.

Also the reason why Lufthansa fly's to CLT airport is because before the merger Us Airways was part of the star alliance so is Lufthansa and air Canada and after American airlines us airways merger they most likely kept those airlines their for some reason instead of getting a one world airline to fly to CLT.
