British Airways Trip Report from Amsterdam to London Heathrow onboard one of the British Airways Boeing 787 aircraft on a rainy summer morning.
It was a fantastic flight. Absolutely fantastic. Do you think is there a better way to cross the English Channel rather than on a British Airways Boeing 787?
Before the flight was had a massive planespotting session at Amsterdam. The flight was mainly inside the clouds, but the approach to London was one of the best I've ever seen. Gorgeous!!

Great experience with the B787. Many problems with the lithium batteries in the first years but then a wonderful airplane. Great view of London, a spectacular city (in London people say the looking at the sky you will always see an airplane...and it is true!). Thanks for sharing.

Amsterdam is a great Airport for spotting. I love being able to just sit back watch the movements from the terminal. It was interesting to hear the female cabin crew doing the safety message at the start having an accent from my local area too. ✈️

This was my first time outside the Schengen area in Amsterdam airport and it was one of the best experiences I had at an airport! While I was recording all those planes I was already making mental plans for 2021! haha Hopefully, we'll beat the pandemic with the vaccine in the first part of 2021...

Excelente reporte, tal como nos tienes acostumbrados. Sin dudas uno de mis canales favoritos y de los que mas disfruto el contenido. Me encantaría ver la aproximación completa en tu canal, es una de los pocos videos en los que se puede ver claramente lo perfecta que es la aproximación a LHR cuando las pistas 27L/R están en uso. "Window blinds now must be set to clear" ................. that`s when you know your flying on a Boeing 787, totally unique and utterly ground breaking aircraft, its beautiful. Snacks included in the price? I`m guessing its because the 787 fleet don`t have buy on board as they are normally long-haul with food included. In Europe, BA charge for food or drinks. Guess you didn't get above FL260 on such a short flight, hence the clouds. Nice spotting, love the Air Belgium livery, no A340 has ever been dressed so well, fantastic views over London, even Buckingham Palace, great video Lucas.

Haha Absolutely! For me, it still sounds a little weird when they say that, but I'm getting used to it... :D No, no, the snacks included on the ticket apply to all BA fleet doing European flights. It's something extremely weird! While all airlines stopped serving almost any catering, BA started to do it without charging extra for it... It's the unique case I've seen, and that's something I should have highlighted on the video. My mistake there... Andrew, I'm really glad that you've enjoyed the video so much! Excelente video Lucas como siempre, vamos por parte. En primer lugar concuerdo contigo de lo gigante que es el Aeropuerto AMS, yo lo considero que es como un Centro Comercial desde donde despegan aviones jajaja!, es enorme, ya he estado ahi unas 3 veces, sin ir mas lejos, cuando volé hacia Innsbruck en Transavia (a propósito amigo, sería super cool que te hicieras esa ruta (una vez que se levanten las restricciones covid) , es hermosa, sobretodo la aproximación entre los alpes, te la recomiendo si es que tienes la suerte de llegar a la pista 26). Ok, volviendo al video, Lucas te agradezco por haber grabado el momento de encendido de los motores RR del 787, genial como suenan, me encanta y también grabaste cuando va rodando y hacen cambios de potencia y se oyen esas bestias rugir, excelente, gracias por eso. Por otra parte pareciera que para tan corto viaje fuera un avión muy grande? o iba mucha gente?. El despegue de los 787 es super suave, apenas y te das cuenta de que ha despegado, buen trabajo de la gente de Boeing. Gracias Lucas por la información técnica de los alerones interiores y exteriores, no tenía idea de los usos que tienen, pero si me había dado cuenta que en el aire los exteriores casi no se mueven. Bonita la app a EGLL, se pudo ver claramente la rueda sobre el río Thamesis, super!!!. Antes de que se me olvide, el planespotting en AMS genial, puras bestias grandes esperando para hacer viajes largos. Gracias por este trip cortito pero excelente. Saludos desde Chile amigo!.

Because there is an extremely high cargo demand between AMS and LHR

Its about current aircraft availability and capacity, BA have most of their fleet in storage at the moment. Indeed, normally you would have to buy food and drinks from the M&S menu on a BA flight to Krakow. The 787`s do not have buy on board capability, that`s why some snacks were included in the price free of charge. Aviation is a bit crazy at the moment, especially in Europe, they will get through this, things will slowly begin to improve by spring 2021. Keep flying IFLYPlanes.

Sin embargo, desde el punto de vista de comodidad... me quedo con los A330 y A340 jaja El tener 2 asientos en las filas de las ventanillas (en lugar de 3 como en el B787 y A350) es una diferencia tremenda! Si bien, es cierto que para los que van sentados en el medio del avión, tener 3 asientos es mucho más cómodo que tener 4.... Saludos :)

Great to see you on board a BA 787 OnBoardHD ;-)I have only flown twice with BA years ago to the USA which was on board a 747-400 (Awesome) but sadly all of these aircraft have been retired early due to Covid ;-( Unfortunately BA mainline only service London airports which considering they are the UK's national airline is a disgrace. I live in Birmingham which is the 2nd largest city in the UK and has NO British Airways services, unbelievable ;-( They expect people from Birmingham to travel to Heathrow to catch there flights which can be a 3/4 hour car journey if the traffic around London is bad which it normally is. Sorry BA but if you want me to travel on your flights you can fly from my local airport, which is the reason why I would fly with either KLM via Amsterdam or Lufthansa via Frankfurt or Munich on long haul flights. ;-)

The B747... as I probably told you already, it was on my plans for this 2020 to fly on the B747 and A380, probably several times... now, it will be impossible to fly on a 747-400, as the only important airline that will maintain the B747 will be Lufthansa and only the -8 series. I have a planned flight through Birmingham in December! haha But probably, I won't be able to do it due to the pandemic. However, it's outside the initial lockdown period announcer by the UK gov. so, for now, it's still scheduled... Let's see what happens...

In my opinion, for maintaining pilot recency. Legally, to operate as a pilot you need 3 takeoffs and 3 landings done by yourself in the last 90 days. As the B787 fleet is basically grounded, if they want to avoid simulator sessions prior to operating again, they must do some kind of short flights to maintain that recency. Cheers!

Muy bueno el vídeo a pesar de ser corto, lo mejor sin duda el pedazo de avión que es el B787 y también me ha gustado ver todos los que estaban en el aeropuerto de Amsterdam; pero sin duda lo mejor de todo las vistas de Londres . Una pregunta, vale la pena un avión tan grande para un recorrido tan corto en términos de coste. Un cordial saludo y buen fin de semana.

Muchas gracias, Rafa! Me alegra que te haya gustado! :) En mi opinión, British Airways hace estos vuelos con B787 precisamente porque son de lo más corto que tienen en su red. El motivo que veo yo aquí es el de mantener la experiencia de sus pilotos de B787 (que ahora no están volando casi nada en largo radio). Por ley, un piloto debe haer al menos 3 despegues y 3 aterrizajes en los últimos 90 días previos a un vuelo para poder operar sin tener que ir a una sesión de refresco en el simulador. Además, supongo que desde Amsterdam a Londres siempre habrá algo de carga que pueda ayudar a que el vuelo no lleve tantas pérdidas con este avión. Saludos!

It's not my job, but slowly it will probably be some kind of "part-time job". I have my main job, but the channel will turn into a secondary soon, probably. KZbin pays me for the advertisings shown on the videos, yes. That's the only way to continue buying around 10 tickets per month. I can't call it job because I'm losing money every single month since 5 years ago.

I guess Heathrow for the nice planespotting you can do from Terminal 2. :) But Gatwick brings me better memories because I was almost always taking holiday flights from LGW.

Why are they using such a giant to fly so little I mean you can use it to fly to further destinations like India or America

In my opinion, for maintaining pilot recency. Legally, to operate as a pilot you need 3 takeoffs and 3 landings done by yourself in the last 90 days. As the B787 fleet is basically grounded, if they want to avoid simulator sessions prior to operating again, they must do some kind of short flights to maintain that recency. Cheers!

Nice video, Nice video of our capital city. However on Thursday Nov. 5th until December 2nd, passengers are not permitted to leave England in any transport including the planes unless strictly important like important business trips. If you are returning to any airport in England, you must go straight home and isolate. Any people are not permitted to go to England during the time unless strictly important and you are British citizen. These are the rule from our government.
