TRIP REPORT | Icelandair - 767 300 - New York (JFK) to Reykjavík (KEF) | Business Class

Welcome to another trip report!
On January 23, I flew Icelandair in their "Saga Premium" Business Class from New York's JFK Airport to Reykjavík-Keflavík Airport. Their Business Class cabin has 25 recliner seats with a unique 2-1-2 configuration, but one could say the seats are designed more as Premium Economy than Business Class. I had an amazing flight because I was extremely impressed with the comfort, service, and staff friendliness.

I flew Icelandair back in the 80's on their Boeing 727-200's from Stockholm to Reykjavik and then from Reykjavik to Oslo. They were great to fly back then as well. Very good airline.

In my early 20s I unloaded a Icelandair flight once a week at East Midlands Airport. It was stacked high with fish every Friday. I'll never get over the smell.

2-1-2 lay out...never seen that before...most unusual Quintin !! Yes the legroom in this class could be best described as "ordinary" ! Empty seat an absolute bonus !! Great views on departure mate...well done !! Hustlers...mmm Some years ago I flew from Melbourne (Australia) to Wellington in New Zealand and they had an uncensored version of the "Wolf of Wall Street" on the entertainment but you were asked to check there were no children around when you watched it...great film and lots of...you know what !! Wonderful trip report and vision Q...really enjoyed it mate and I trust you are safe and well in these most strange times !! Might have to pop Iceland on my list !!

The longest flight I have ever been on was on a USAIRWAYS Boeing 767 from my native Stockholm, Sweden to Philadelphia. It was almost 10 hours. However, I flew first class so I didn’t mind at all! Love your work!

You were a tad generous on your rating for the seating. You expected more legroom, and I would not have wanted to be seated in one of those odd center seats. But everything else onboard looked like a class act, and you had a comfortable flight.

The 2-1-2 layout... those seats in the middle are awkward for sure. The only other airline that did this with its business class on the 767 was Continental Airlines back in the early 2000’s with their “Business First” product.

2-1-2 cross configuration used to be the standard for F class and later C/J class on many other airlines 767s years ago. Nice trip report.

A typical saga premium fare from jfk is around 500 usd so he flew on a very expensive day

Nice. Maybe one day I'll return to Iceland. Your first class meal looked yummy. You had to have savored it. For anyone who hasn't been to Iceland, I have to tell you the food is very expensive. A meal like that in an Iceland restaurant would have to be something north of $100.

This was a very nice trip report. That take off from New York was wonderful and you use lovely music in this clip. Loved it. Had flown Icelandair several times, both eco and business class, and I confirm, that the staff was always very friendly. The food, especially in business class, is great, as is the service. However it can be challenging to fly from North America to Europe via Keflavik (you do not land in Reykjavik!) due to the fact, that the flights are pretty short, which means, that you just have a bit more than 3 hours of rest left between meal service and landing. Nevertheless I would choose that routing again, because I hate long flights and getting some proper air in between and be able to strech your legs is better than sitting 8 or more hours in a plane, where the air is getting worse the longer the flight. Recommend to visit Iceland on a stop-over, too. The Keflavik airport environment looks more like you just landed on the moon, but this country has a lot to offer. Looking forward to getting there again.

I couldn't possibly help but notice that BA had 4 flights departing to LHR with less than 2h difference! That's insane!! LoL Some 757 fly to Recife, Brazil, my hometown, but not for Icelandair, of course, but to Cabo Verde Airlines. I wish they used a 767 .. .
