Same thing with the luggage happened to me a couple of years ago. Carry on too heavy for cabin so they offered to check it in. Had laptop and other valuables in it. Arrived in Auckland and bag was left behind. It arrived on the next flight and got delivered to where I live. Laptop wasn’t stolen, surprisingly

Air NZ never owned any. At the time of this video, Air NZ was leasing one from lease company Hi-Fly! Hope that answers ya question :D
