TRIP REPORT | Sun Country Airlines - 737 700 - Sacramento (SMF) to Minneapolis (MSP) | Economy

Welcome to another trip report!
On May 26, I flew Sun Country from Sacramento to Minneapolis. This was their 3rd ever flight out of SMF, so they were still running at a slow pace. But I'm sure you are all wondering how I was able to score a massive seat in Economy. Well... even though I paid the same Coach fare like everybody else, I paid a small extra fee to sit in these old seats that Sun Country used to sell as their First Class product. They discontinued it last year, but haven't completed the all-economy layout cabins, as they plan on getting rid of the 737-700s in a move to operate only 737-800s and transform into a low-cost-carrier.

4.09 For gas in California, OUCH!! There must have been a medical emergency if an AED was needed. I am an EMT I was wondering what you where referring too. I have never heard of a person carrying their own Automated External Defibrillator.

Sacramento Airport is so nice! I like the old paint scheme of SY even though the new one is pretty nice in my opinion. I just think blue looks better for SY.

The engine sound at Takeoff lets me think that N1 was not above 80. Great video though

Typical for the -700. It drives me nuts honestly, especially when it slams the thrust after liftoff almost out of nowhere. The last time I had a -700 we were pretty loaded but got a short runway, which made us use a higher thrust setting more like conventional aircraft, and yet it still wasn’t full throttle.

Sun Country is a great airline, but one nitpick issue with them is interior and seat layout inconsistency. Some aircraft have first class seats, others are all economy and have nice new seats, others have old interiors from their past operators that are in poor shape or falling apart, and so on. Lastly an incredibly small detail is no WiFi.

Crumby plane, crumby airline. Proof that Boeing should have ended 737 production with the -200 model. But no; new wine keeps getting poured into old wineskins, with the result that airlines are piling version upon version of this clunker, and getting rid of the best planes Boeing ever produced: the 757 and the 767. When was the last time any of you flew on a 767-200? You have to go to Azerbaijan or Kazakhstan to find even one still in service. THAT is the plane that should be filling the role that the 737 Max is being used for. Ugly as sin, but what a performer. Sea level to FL370 in 17 minutes. Coast to coast with no seat belt sign until approach descent. SFO-JFK in 5:00 flat. What can do that now??????
