TRIP REPORT | United Airlines - 757 200 - Boston (BOS) to San Francisco (SFO) | First Class

Welcome to another trip report!
As many of you know, I believe United isn't a good airline. Rude F/As, bad food, thin seats, and overpriced tickets. But this flight showed a better side of United. The F/As were nice, the food was great, the seats were amazing (mostly), and the ticket price was mediocre.
Many people say United Polaris has fallen short of expectations, but it's definitely better than those short-haul First Class seats you'd find in any 737 or A320.

This is an old, Continental Airlines plane. I love those old Conti 757's. Well-kept for their age and have quite the bells and whistles for a narrow-body. Also cool is the sheer variety of routes they do. While this one did an old pre-merger UA transcontinental route, they usually are based in Newark and can serve a crazy variety of destinations to and from there, including Stockholm, Lima, Edinburgh, Denver, Orlando, and LAX/SFO. They are some of the most versatile airplanes in service and some of my all time favorites.

Looks like a pretty full flight too and on one of the longest US domestic routes, yet still only needed 30 seconds to get off the ground without needing full throttle. Pretty impressive.

U may not believe this- United has IFE screens on almost half of the aircraft they use; 737-7, 737-8, 757-2, 757-3, 767-3, 767-4, 787-8, and 787-9. The ones that don’t are the A319, A320, 737-9, 737-9 MAX, 777-2, CRJ-2, 7, and, E170, and E175. United has 8/17 aircraft with IFE screens

Yes, you had it good in First Class on that aircraft...Nice...They made the updates to the First Class a couple of year when I left them...Many of my friends keep me updated as to the airline after the merger of Continental. Continental had the 757-300s a lot longer but still a good aircraft...Fly safe..

I had an IAH based United Airlines Flight Attendant crew working on UA 1032 from IAH-PTY and they were friendly. One of the FA's said I could get all three free snacks.

Looking very nice...Yes, I love the 757-200s. Having been with United Airlines for many years, I really got comfortable with that aircraft to fly trans-con and to Hawaii out of L.A. I did fly the PS service on 757-200s a couple of time out of New York to L.A. It was nice to have the First Class, Business and then Economy. Well, you fly safe always....

Overall I think Delta does a better job making older planes feel new. From the overhead bins to the seats, this looks like an older plane. Though that maybe my Atlanta bias coming out a bit.

I've flown this exact flight in Economy+ where you do get a meal (just like longhaul international). The downside is that Economy doesn't get a meal. I really like the first class seats, although I'm excited to one day try the actual polaris cabin (with the 1-2-1 configuration).

You seem to be very adept at obtaining drone footage---fascinating view of the baseball stadium,located directly on the waterfront,looks as if the field is actually BELOW water level! Imagine the major damage happening should San Francisco Bay starts seeping into the field!

LOL, that light's behind the seat so you have a reading light if you have the seat in full lie flat mode. easy to turn on and off from that position.

Love the sound of a 757 taking off. Just wondering, do you have any longhaul flights planned any time soon? And do you have any elite status with an airline/alliance?

This one in particular has a loud roar, as it gets off with a full load on a long flight in just half a minute. Interesting fact: N13110 was stored in Roswell during Covid but actually re-entered service in the middle of the pandemic. So it’s back in service. Most common route to find this unit on is probably Newark-Orlando. Honestly this has to be one of my favorite trip reports of all time. It shows why the B757 reigns supreme, especially the old Continental units.

First Class? Back when I flew the reverse SFO-BOS in June, it was still "business class". UA didn't take their transcon premium service off the SFO BOS route did they? By the looks of the service you got, it doesn't seem like it.
