Indigenous people may have the oldest and riches culture in Guyana, but their access to a proper education, medicine, jobs etc remain stagnant. Orealla is a beautiful Indigenous community. During the 1918-1919 pandemic Spanish Flu(killed 50 millions people world wide - at that time Guyana's population was around 300k out that there were about 6400 deaths), the Indigenous people was impacted heavily, many of them died in a village call Epira. They thought it was some evil spirit so they abandoned Epira and went to further upstream, then they settle in Orealla and Siparuta. Great Video. Thank You.

What a beautiful island and community. Thanks for the effort. I enjoyed the conversation with the Amerindian comedian. I was scared for your Dad who has a limp and the older ladies who had to do all that strenuous trekking. Needed good walking sneakers. Boat was too small. This was a very high activity trip especially for older folks.
