Thank you, Triple-A, for another solid addition to the Freetown Walking series. The Syke St section made me giddy as I remembered the footsteps of a younger me. Especially when we walked in front of Globe (now a church). I watched many movies there and took late-night walks back to the Stadium Hostel. If I recall correctly, you had three movies back then. Your first flick would come from Bollywood (I wonder if they called it that back in the day) - that's where you'd get your Seeta aur Geeta or Tridev. The second flick was from Hong Kong and featured Shaolin movies and early-day Jacki Chan films. Then, to cap things off, you had your American action flick - the list is too long to post here. By the end of a movie day, I'd walk back past the graveyard deep in the night - half entertained and half scared - only to do it all again whenever I had some money. 🤣😂 Triple-A, you've triggered some memories. You've got me laughing over here. I loved the Globe in Freetown and the Opera and Morta Theater in Kono. Great walk, Triple-A! Thanks for the shoutout. I watched this video from start to end, from Syke Street to the unknown Brookfields area, where we ended up at the silver SUV on Ogoo Lane West. Besides staying at Brookfields Hotel (the old one and the new one recently), I don't recall ever going into Brookfields proper. I look forward to the next set of videos that will take us on a deeper exploration of the Brookfield community. I am learning a bit about that area. As always, thanks, Triple-A, for the videos, especially those memories of Globe. I swore never to walk past the graveyard, but I did it several times. 🤣Thanks, Tiple-A. We are patiently waiting for the next drop.

My name Amadou sarrah bah and I live in Guinea I have watched moat of your videos without commenting I watched up to ogoo lane at the end but I can't understand now after I left sierra leone in 1988 is the way most parts of Freetown is congested especially that Brookfield area with may street names that have modified eg like ogoo lane 4 or wellobi lame west. With Sykes street I understood all the areas up to the junction of main rotor road You are really doing a great job fo us

😊 Watched from New York. Syke Street, where I saw the late Joe Jackson, the late great entertainer Michael Jackson's father inside a car close to Globe Cinema in 1981 waiting for the traffic to clear up, going home with my friends after watching a football match at the stadium. A few days later Joe Jackson and the late SLBS music program host Gipu Felix-George were the judges for a variety show I attended which was held at the Kays club. The same year the late world renown American musician Isaac Hayes fondly called " Black Moses " performed at the newly built City Hall back then, which unfortunately was destroyed during our nation's self destruction ( civil war). In the following year one of reggae music's icon Winston Rodney aka " Burning Spear " performed at the stadium on Easter day. Other foreign artists who performed in Sierra Leone are American artist Rufus Thomas, the late Mariam Makeba, the late Prince Nico, another reggae music icon Jimmy Cliff in 1975, as well as the very popular Congolese group Orchestre Lipua Lipua.
