Is GPON faster than EPON, on the consumer side? I mean does it make any kind of difference for ping and data speed? My ISP says they're using xPON OLT that means they can connect to both GPON and EPON ONU. I already have a 3 year old EPON ONU with me, would it make any difference if they gave me a new GPON ONU? I asked them and they said no it won't make any difference. They're probably saying this to save money by not giving me a new ONU, but can someone explain the situation here?
