I'm actually very surprised that a knifemaker of your level recommends that brand. I own some of this brand's products, and i find that they always do what they're supposed to do, for VERY cheap. That's a great way for beginners to get started for a small amount of money. By the way, you have inspired me to do what i do today, and a lot of other people. Thank you !!! (your damascus katana was absolutely stunning by the way)

When your using the engraver move your hand up so that it is off of the engraving bit and it will work a lot more smoothly and you will get better control over it, hope this helps and keep up the good work

would it be simpler to melt the silver or gold in and let it flow once you pushed it part of the way in giving a nice even finish?
@erikcourtney1834
@erikcourtney1834 Жыл бұрын
No because the chance of you getting a perfect pour is very low.
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks Жыл бұрын
In addition to what Erik said, the melting point of silver is 1735F and gold is 1950F. It’s not that easy to get molten material in either state enough to “pour” into it. It’s MUCH easier to form it into the space. Thanks for watching

@@8ank3r Yes, that might work if you had a differential heat treat. I suspect you'd still need a something other than HSS gravers for that since its harder than mild steel. It could work though.

hello, this is what I'm looking for about inlays. but I failed when the inlay was on wide media even though it was only in the shape of a circle, is there any Vidio inlay on wide media. I'm a beginner and want to engrave coins. I hope there is a video, maybe a little picture of how to make a trench for wide media, that's my problem
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks Жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you mean by “wide” media. You need to inlay a large area? That is usually done by carving out that area and putting dovetail grooves over the bottom and pressing rows of wire into it. I’ve never done it myself though. If you are on Instagram, watch instagram.com/j.parke1?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=. Thanks for watching.
