Man, I love that new intro! Harder up and down for sure. Funny timing, I have a video coming out tomorrow going over an upgrade to my SGA. I have it operating in a horizontal position now. Much nicer to use for sure.... I think it's worth noting that that black "table" got a little sloppy on me. I think having it in the vertical position may have put more stress on that table over time...There aren't any gibbs in there, so I shimmed it to tighten it up with some 0.005'' shim stock and it working fine now. I really like your set up and build on the SGA.

Thanks, I do like the new intro too. Worth the money I spent to have it made. (which wasn't much). I haven't had any slop on the table and I've been using this one for over a year and its still rock solid. You did a great video on the whole build, which I didn't do and that's helped a lot of people. I know lots of folks who reference your video on FB. 😉

@@TyrellKnifeworks and that's what keeps me ticking (a nod to the headline of @greenbeetle's latest video 😁). I dig how j.keeton makes tools as the need arises, like in his 2021 Bowie build video (I was shocked that he bought a file guide for that build!) That dude is the definition of the DIY tool guy! Anyhoo, once my revolution 2x72 is complete, I'll probably jump into the surface grinder project. My boss has a vintage mill at his shop, the name is on the tip of my tongue but 'brodbeck' keeps popping into my recall function. However, I'm not sure he has up and running yet since the last I saw, it has become yet another flat surface to place stuff on. I'll ask him Monday what's up

I wasn't here for a week and I missed new intro coming up! Denis, it's very cool! Am I seeing "forged in fire" inspiration :)? About the video: I still don't have surface grinder (don't have time to make it)- tool I terribly need! I'm super happy that you show it- I must find components in Poland (I love this simple construction you have- it looks like "10min" build). One question: I was plan to make a knife vise with hinge to make rotation in all 3 axis possible. This require more work and take more time. What do you thing about this solution? Are you happy with you vise? Or maybe you would change something?
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks 3 жыл бұрын
The surface grinder is super useful, I use it all the time. For the knife vise, I wouldn't really change anything on it. I'm pretty happy with it and it does exactly what I needed. Someone put a comment in that it would be nice to be able to swivel it so the knife was vertical. An interesting idea but not something I need.
@DBCraftWorld
@DBCraftWorld 3 жыл бұрын
@@TyrellKnifeworks Yes, that's exactly what I want to do in mine. When I'm using a normal vise, I usually position knife an in angle to the ground (not parallel as it's possible in yours). I'm asking about the comfort, because I'm not sure about this solution- maybe it's too complicated and I won't be using it.
@TyrellKnifeworks
@TyrellKnifeworks 3 жыл бұрын
@@DBCraftWorld It comes down to what you want to do with the knife in the vise. I use it for hand sanding the blade and hand sanding the handle. Both I do when the knife is horizontal so I don't need or want it vertical. It's just my opinion of course.
@DBCraftWorld
@DBCraftWorld 3 жыл бұрын
@@TyrellKnifeworks Yes, it's totally on smith side. Most of works I do standing- so having a blade/handle in line with an eye (how I do) requires knife vise on very high position (above the table) or, an in angle at the table.
