Secretariat no one comment may justify it's quality over all times. The Great of Greats forever, the one with the biggest heart to run all distances. Congratulations to whom care about him with love like me.

I watched all three triple crown races in 1973 on TV and was fortunate to be at the race at Woodbine...what an amazing horse. I still have my “winning “ ticket. The tickets were printed with ‘Big Red’ on them.

I get cold chills when secretariat turns for home, steam blowing from both nostrils and listening to the announcer, say this his last race lady and gentleman he's all yours

I continue to watch this race on KZbin although I was lucky enough to be at Belmont on the Saturday in June when he won the third leg of the Triple Crown. My friends and I had driven from Boston for the race and we were perched in the far end of the grandstand across from the 1/8th pole. I remember watching as Turcotte turned to look in to the infield to catch a view of the teletimer and knew that he was going to set a new world record for the 1 1/2 mile distance. The grandstand shook like thunder that day as he continued racing down to the wire at least 35 lengths in front of the rest of the field. I saved the Morning Telegraph along with a winning ticket and a Belmont Program that cost all of .25 cents for the day. Foolishly I gave them away to someone who was a big Secretariat fan. I continue to regret not keeping the Telegraph and the program from that day.

I'm angry at myself that I never took the trip to see him in person when he retired. That would been so emotional for me.

After all the bravado and big talk from the Kennedy Road team, Red showed them how it's done. MIC DROP!

..and there he goes There he Goes!!! What a sight to see... The only other time we have a chance to see Secretariat again will be in Heaven with Christ Jesus riding him, He gave the horse His Heart of Gold & God given Talent/Abilities... won't be long🙏 Amen

I read somewhere that SECRETARIAT had to learn a special gallop to run on the grass track by lowering his body and changing his footwork and stride. He did this all on his own. The Greatest racehorse that ever lived BIG RED !

Unbelievable, they didn’t let Ronnie run Secretariat’s last race!

I'm a bit obsessive about this amazing horse. "There he goes". Beautiful.

He did this so easily. The time doesn't mean much. It's obvious he wasn't being asked for his best.

He made the 1973 Canadian Horse of the Year look like just an ordinary foe. Kennedy Road fared no better than Sham trying to make a match race of it.

It's a shame Mr. Turcotte was not allowed to ride that day . Seems like the racing association tried to cause Secretariat to lose that day . But it didn't matter who rode that day he still won .

While I agree with the comment below about the narrator being overly dramatic and nauseating in bias and lacking in facts, this race was impressive at the far turn where it was like he just entered the race.

It's an amazing testament to our current educational standards that monkeys' bums are now capable of writing. Unfortunate, though, that the product of a bum is often, well, that which comes out of a bum. Dahlia was faster in her CI, Secretariat was 1.8 seconds faster than Dahlia in the Man O' War Stakes. Also, the horse that Dahlia just managed to hold off in the '74 CI (Big Spruce) was 6 1/2 lengths sternward of Secretariat in the '73 CI. London Company, approximately 2 lengths behind Dahlia in the Man O' War, was some 15 lengths behind Secretariat in the '73 Man O' War.
@jottland333312 жыл бұрын
that was at least 6 lengths.....what's the difference?
@sohillsvettech16249 жыл бұрын
Ok dahlia and secretariat both are great but things change, tracks change, but the biggest thing was secretariat was rode by Eddie maple not turcotte in the CI and Eddie pulled him up greatly at the end, Ronnie would've never done that he would've let him run to the line and there was 0 reason to pull him up, honestly just stupid!

Who is the overlydramatic narrator, OMG.
@jasonscott641711 жыл бұрын
By the way, let me just say that I doubt ANY horse owner or trainer will run in this race because of Secretariat. Really???? How dramatic. If this race were run and there was NO purse money, do you think ANY horse would ship to Canada from the US or run in this race for nothing because of Secretariat, OMG. Gag me with a spoon!
@jasonscott641711 жыл бұрын
Your comment is a year old but I have to thank you for your comment. Dahlia ran faster and yet overly dramatic Secretariat fans are just that. Thank you for acknowledging that Sec's time was NOT as fast. Ah, someone who is living on THIS planet!

Secretariat was breezing, he let up towards the end watch the video, they had a lot of investors wanting to keep him alive. Secretariat would beat any horse in history when he wanted and what made people like him even more was that he did lose whether it was human error or illness, he lost and that's OK to me because he holds lifetime records in the 3 biggest races in the world and you can't argue it, he could of been even faster had his jockey not held him back for so long.
