Okay, when Tera Melos came the year (or two) before this, they played at the Biltmore. I was high on acid giving away apples freshly picked from the okanagan. Nick & Nate both took huge honey crisps. Nick said he would play super cool sounds for me. But noticed they didn't play 40 rods. Night of this show, I approached Nick, "dude, you gotta play 40 rods tonight", Nick's all like, ask John. I approach Jon, hes stoked until I mention playing 40 rods then becomes serious. I remember the look John gave Nick that night as they were playing 40 rods as an encore. Fine. Thanks John.
@brandonvu54297 жыл бұрын
I'd imagine at the time, he wasn't completely comfortable with the song yet. I think not long before this show, they only played Ambassadors and the intro. Or maybe it gets requested all the time and he's gotten sick of it. That probably the case now.
@johnclardymusic5 жыл бұрын
I admittedly can't really remember this exchange, but if there's ever reservation about playing 40 Rods, it's pretty much always a set time/curfew issue. I always enjoy playing this one :))

Mike G Love Erak, but have you heard any of the first three Tera melos albums? Nick isn't a virtuoso in a traditional sense, but how could you say he relies too much on effects when Spoonful Of Slurry and When Worms Learn To Fly exist?
@taylorgardner95625 жыл бұрын
@@brandonvu5429 Thomas Erak relies on his own fingers more so than operating pedals. I've also met Nick at a show with Minus the Bear and he comes across as very jealous of The Fall of Troy even though Tera Melos we're one of the bands to bring math rock into a more mainstream audience. It's cool his pedal board has 20 some different options but Thomas can do more with like 10. They are both amazing, do t get me wrong.
@jofunin36804 жыл бұрын
@@taylorgardner9562 Obviously Nick would be jealous of Erak or rather alot of people are. Erak already made really good shit when he was 16 - 17 like the 30YW EP. On top of all that, he made a hit song with fcpremix not on accident, but Thomas knew it was going to be the main dish of the Doppelganger album.

@brandonvu54297 жыл бұрын
Are you talking about when he just goes all over the fretboard and plays random shit? That's intentional and it's never gonna go away. If you seriously think he's doing it to avoid playing something technical, then you need to listen to Untitled and Drugs to the Dear Youth because he has plenty of talent to avoid those parts. Jimi Hendrix is innovative but so is Tera Melos, have you ever heard another band that sounds like them? I sure haven't, unless you're going to stretch it and say something like Hella simply because they're both math rock.
