Back in 2016, my family bought Uno and when we start learning Uno, we used the original video when Spencer, the lead designer of Triple S Games, talks about how to play Uno instead of Jim and that video later is the 2nd most viewed in your channel. Also, I'm glad you made these rules more specific with the 2023 rules and I still like Jim talking about the rules of a board/card game.

Don't know if I like the custom cards being writable by pencil, doesn't seem durable. They should have used that coating that allows whiteboard markers, easier to erase and no marks A fun house rule would be that if someone wins a round, they get to rewrite one of custom cards. Also, the shuffle wild should allow the +2 stacking house rule to be more viable.

There is a potential solution. Instead of writing rules directly onto the three cards, mark them as A, B, and C. Using a separate sheet of paper, you can write special rules corresponding to each letter and keep doing it each time you want to change what each of the three cards do. It's what my group did.

the only changes to the rules for 2023 that i can identify are the starting action card behaviors if they are drawn first for the discard pile. that has always been confusing, especially the wild card which wasn’t made clear whether the player chooses the color and then plays their card or only chooses the color. nice to see that the solution now is to just keep drawing until a normal card can be put down. it would be helpful to know if these rules were taken straight from a 2023 uno game or found online

My new deck matches this video and states "copy updated Jan 2021 on the bottom of the rule sheet. A notable omission compared to earlier rules is no explicit rules for two player. As currently written reverse is meaningless 2 player and earlier versions said it should me treated as a skip card.

So the main change is that before, if the first card in the discard pile is a Wild/Draw 2/Skip/Reverse, then the player to go first (dealer's left) is effected by it. If a Wild Draw 4 card is the first card in the discard pile, then it's returned to the deck and another first discard for the pile replaces it. Sorry if I'm not wording this exactly right...

Challenging has been a thing for at least a couple decades, but people don't typically know about it because they don't read every detail in the rules. This is made even worse by the fact that Wild +4 cards have similar icon notation as +2 cards even though +2 cards don't have any rules relating to challenging. The end result is a card that most people will assume by default is just a hybrid of a +2 card and a Wild card with no other special properties.

We use additional set of rules at home: 1) If someone has 2 playable cards of same color and number, they can play those two cards at once 2) If there is another card of same number but different color as well, they can drop it along with the two cards dropped as per rule 1 3) Whenever someone plays +2 or wild +4, if the next person too has +2 or wild +4, he/she can play the card type corresponding to the previous player's card at their will and the resultant effect stacks up for the next player

I'd say that the rules is also for the UNO Colourblind Accessible. Plays exactly the same as this UNO 2024 but with symbols (or suits) to help colourblind players to be able to see better. Circle = Red Star = Yellow Triangle = Green Square = Blue More of the themed UNO Cards (as long as they have the logo "Mattel, Empowering the next generation through play. Inspirer les futures générations par le jeu.") will have the same rules and instruction formats as this one but with special rule cards. Examples like UNO Disney 100, UNO The Amazing Spiderman, UNO Buzz Lightyear, UNO Despicable Me 4, UNO Batman and etc). What I mean is the new rules changed to ignoring the action card if it is the first card flipped then a new card is flipped together with the fact that now the scoring points became an optional victory method.

If it's fun to play that way, you should play that way. People act like something not being in the "canon rules" makes it forbidden, and that finding out your house rule isn't an official rule is some sort of grand betrayal. The rules of the game make for a baseline, a general agreed upon framework, that you can then tweak and customize to make it work for you and your group. Just make sure everyone knows your house rules in advance and everything is Gucci.

i just came up with a wild custom card that could be really dangerous in a point game it's a normal wild card but if someone wins and you have the card on your hand, the points go to you.

There are some correction: 1) Only Wild Draw 4 must return to draw deck if it is the first discard, then show the another card on the top of draw deck as the new first discard. 2) When the first discard are Action cards (Reverse, Skip and Draw 2) or Normal Wild, those cards' effects still apply and cannot be ignored: Skip: The left player of dealer skips the turn; Reverse: The dealer plays first, playing order becomes counterclockwise; Draw 2: The left player of dealer draws 2 cards and skips the turn; Normal Wild: The left player of dealer chooses the color and starts playing a card with the chosen color.

We don't actually know the reasoning; however, the scoring being optional makes the game a bit less fair.

If you want to, you can allow stacking - this is where you can put a draw card on another draw card instead of drawing the cards - for example, putting a +2 on a +2 to make a +4 instead of drawing the 2 cards and losing your turn. This rule is optional.

There is a house rule of my family were if someone plays a red 7 everyone must stay silent until the turn of player who played the red 7, if anyone makes a sound during the silent then it must draw a card.

My variation: If you get a Draw 2 or Wild Draw 4, you draw cards as usual BUT DO NOT miss a turn. No challenges can be made when a Wild Draw 4 is played. You can start a Draw Stack Frenzy when you put a Draw 2/ Wild Draw 4 on a draw 2/Wild Draw 4. Then a Draw Stack begins. Everyone who goes next must either put a Draw 2 or a Wild Draw 4. Here’s the catch: The player who played a Wild draw 4 must call out a colour before the next player goes. Then the player who goes next must see if he has the Draw 2 card that matches the colour that is called out or a Wild Draw 4 himself. If he/she has neither of them, they must take the penalty. Of course, you can choose to surrender and take the penalty to keep your Draw Cards, but this ends the Draw Stack Frenzy(and that’s not a smart play, IMO.). My blank Cards are: Shield: Cancels an action card’s effect, including the Wild Custom Card’s effects. Then call out a colour to continue play. Equaliser: Take everyone’s cards and redistribute EVENLY so everyone has the same number of cards. If there are leftovers then get some cards from the draw deck to keep it even. After the process is complete, call out a colour to continue play. Shutdown: Force all your opponents to draw 2 cards, then you gain an Extra Turn. Play one card without saying. This will represent which colour you choose to continue Play.

It seems they removed the unique rules for 7 and 0 that used to be part of the official rules. Playing a 7 allows you to swap all your cards with someone, and playing a zero rotates all the cards one player in the direction of play

If you challenge the +4 and the oponent played it legally, you draw 6. If you challenge the +4 and you were right on the suspicion, the opponent draws 4 instead of you.

Nope. Not in the official rules of UNO. Next player must draw 2 cards and loses their turn. Stacking is only in UNO No Mercy.
