I remember the first time I saw them do this live at the Hi Fi bar in Melbourne. At first people started laughing, and then everyone sat there stunned as they did it utterly perfectly. Very talented lads.

I think this version's given me a better understanding of, and definitely a renewed appreciation for the original. Everything a cover should be.

I think I like this cover better than Radiohead's original.

Have to love the girls fighting over the music sheets at 5:45 lol.

Considering that the original is a highly electronic song that is a masterpiece, these guys blew my mind doing all this vocally and they are amazing!!!!!

when the middle dude sang the rain down part.. wow i was impressed like i was never before
@Murto8416 жыл бұрын
The middle section, with the choral-like singing. The way Gatesy sings it is just magical. Good work mate. About the only non-funny song of theirs I like. Also, did anyone else notice that most of the Tripod vids randomly vanished off youtube? D:

Remember seeing them do this a couple of time, everyone completely hushed and went bananas at the end. Goosebumps during the middle.

I did this on drums with the band for HSC... I have played this song so many times that i know every single section- melodic, harmonic or rhythmic but i still sat here gobsmacked the whole 7 minutes. Amazing!

Im in agreement with sadscene, this version is amazing, origonal is fuckin really good, but this has extra novalty vaule, and the key change on the 'rain down, rain down' is fuckin spot on

That's soooo freaking awesome! @BelgianGurista... I agree, you missed the point. And how could you possibly think that "voicing" a song is not hard! Are you freaking kidding me!!! A 3-part as complicated as that is incredible to pull off let alone figure out. These guys are simply amazing together.

yes I am the same as you, huge beatles and radiohead fan (but more so beatles) Thom said he was inspired by the unstructuredness of happiness is a warm gun, as in all the parts are different to each other, and wrote paranoid android. They sound nothing alike, only in terms of structure is all :P

It's a full cover of Radiohead's song Paranoid Android, quite simple as the title implies. Very fun to see how all the sounds of the song are imitated. And yes, the original song is that long and constantly changing indeed.

I think it was a really good idea to end the show with something that wasn't completely comedy, because they really are incredibly musical, but a lot of their songs don't let you see it.

I do tend to like the tripod versions of things more than the origionals...
@visigothic6713 жыл бұрын
@BelgianGurista Im a Radiohead fan,a Tripod fan and also oddly enough a fellow subscriber to Jeff and Mike and the eternal Pizza Bar gig. They do a pretty good cover of a lot of stuff,and I'm a big fan of practically any and every cover as long as it adds something new to the mix. Tripod did that here,and even with clearly superior musical training and experience,the Pizza shop duo just don't manage it most times. If you are trying to sound like the original,you fail before the first note.

I got tipsy and felt the urge to revisit this... It is wicked. Paranoid Android is amazing, and Tripod win. I mean...acapella? That is mental. But it works. Also..Happiness is a Warm Gun? I must listen, absorb and cure my naiveity.
