GOL is by far the best low-cost carrier I've ever seen ! And Brazil has the best airports of the world with breathtaking views ! I flew with GOL in May 2017 from Rio to Buenos Aires, I had complimentary snacks (which I thought was only on international flights, I'm surprised you also got one). Wifi wasn't installed in the airplane yet... but they are always on time, cabin was clean and nice, great service, no complaint !

Brazil is lucky to have three really good carriers nowadays. Azul is a low cost and it's really good. The best of all. They got the Tripadvisor Awards as the third better airline in the world. I guess it overdone, but they are really amazing. Try it when you come back to Brasil. I consider Avianca as our second better airline. They have a short domestic network, a pair of international destinations and they consider themselves as a legacy carrier, even their prices being the lowest, in general. They are really good. And now, Gol Airlines (that one day, early the company was a crap), has a really good product. They have a huge network, many flights to passengers choose and their product with wi-fi onboard, leather seats, honest pitch, snacks and beverages free and many other cool stuff is very very great. The only exception in our market is LATAM. The international flights still very ok, but the domestic product is terrible. And who met the former TAM Airlines, mainly in 90's, when it flew their olds Fokker 100, extended red carpets to the passengers to board the plane and put their captains at the door to receive the passengers, can't not compare the both carriers and to note that this amazing airline changed their old F100's for the very modern Airbuses in the same way that they changed that amazing product for the current poverty on the air.

Gol is not an acronym, it's an actual, current word in Portuguese, so it's read as written ("gol", not "gee-oh-ell") and usually not written in all caps. It's a borrowing from English "goal" (from football/soccer, "Tor" in German) and a great marketing name in a football-fanatic country. When it appeared, Gol was meant to be a low-cost, low-fare airline, but economic fators (particularly Brazil's insanely heavy tax burden and complex legal system) made it eventually become just low-cost (meaning they manage their costs using low-cost airline methods), but not low-fare. Still, it was enough to be the "coup de grâce" that finished bankrupting the three large Brazilian legacy airlines of the time (Varig, VASP and Transbrasil), which were already ailing and couldn't face the competition. TAM (now LATAM Brasil) survived, but only after a complete restructuring of its operations. Later OceanAir (now Avianca Brasil) and Azul came into the equation as well. There have been rumors of Virgin and now Norwegian opening Brazilian operations as well, but nothing real so far. Gol's service has only gone downhill over the years, yet I still prefer Gol over LATAM (let's say I find Gol "less bad") because of some awful experiences with LATAM's very ill-trained and unprofessional ground personnel and disorganization. Gol at least can be very efficient if you're lucky. Azul is great but it has limited services from São Paulo City (NOT "São PaOlo" - we don't speak Italian here!), where I live, as its hub in Campinas-Viracopos is too far and inconvenient for the short hops I'm likely to take. Congonhas Airport is very old. It dates from the 1930s, and the current terminal building from the 1950s, albeit with several later renovations and expansions (which spoiled the old charm of what used to be a beautiful jewel of Modernist architecture). It had no jet bridges until the early 2000s, and most flights still depart from bus gates. That's why there are so many. And Vitória Airport is unanimously panned as the worst major domestic Brazilian airport. A renovation has been stalled by legal complications from a fraud in the public tender for the works (which has a good side to it - the country is starting to make its laws seriously apply and to fight corruption, which is great).

I love the steep climb when taking off CGH. Buildings around are really close to the runway. Nearby residents complain a lot about aircraft noise! But....the airport was there since 1936, way earlier than the buildings!

I live in Cariacica, Vitória's neighbor that lays on the west side of Vitória Bay. It pops up the video when you first showed the urban area as landing came closer, at 8:33. Vitória's New Airport Terminal was inaugureted approximately one month ago, but planes cannot use the new runway for now, so landing and take-off procedures take place on the older and shorter one. Hope you had (or have) a great time here! Your videos are awesome and keep up the good work!

A Gol não é nenhuma maravilha, não, é verdade (embora fosse incrivelmente eficiente quando começou), mas ainda acho menos ruim que a LATAM. Tive experiências horríveis com o pessoal de terra e a desorganização da LATAM. Eles pegam uns caras novinhos e imaturos, sem nenhuma experiência, treinam mal e supervisionam mal o pessoal. Eles fazem burradas incríveis e não têm nenhuma educação ou profissionalismo no trato com os passageiros. Já vi até a LATAM chamar um voo para embarque no portão ao lado do meu e depois mandarem voltar todo mundo que já tinha embarcado porque chamaram o voo errado e aquele avião não era o do voo embarcado... Comunicações aos berros, filas tumultuadas, um pesadelo!

You will be very satisfied. The cabin is very clean and the FA are very friendly. Also, the oldest plane is 12 years old.. but most of them are between 2 and 8 years, so, they are new. If you could, try to come to Rio de Janeiro, here in SANTOS DUMONT the views are amazing... and Galeão too!

Two years ago , I flew GOL from Belem to Rio de Janeiro with a change in Brasilia. GOL left 24 connecting passengers stranded in Brasilia because they didn't hold the next flight for just 20 minutes. They made us get back in line ( 2 hours) to rebook our tickets and then provided a 2 star hotel to spend the night. We had to get up at 4:3o to catch a 6:00 flight. It was the WORST airline I have ever flown on !

Did similar route couple months ago, but from GRU up to VIX since i came from MVD. Then went up to SSA but on LATAM, found the legroom in LATAM more comfortable than the Gol one. Great report!!

GOL is a low cost to Brazil where Flights tickets are a little bit expensive because we just have 4 major companies (GOL, Latam, Azul and Avianca) and 2 regional ones (Passadedo and MAP) so GOL' s price is like R$250 meanwhile the others are like R$350 (dipending on the route)
