You can take food through TSA as long as it’s not liquid. Completely frozen ice or ice packs can also go through TSA to keep food cold. Drinks can be purchased past security and some airports have fill stations for empty bottles so you might be able to bring a reusable bottle with you and get free water. But ice may be hard to get for free.

I mean you can always eat at the airport before you board so you aren’t that hungry on the flight. Most airport food is almost always cheaper then airplane food

A good idea is a sub or hoagie packed with proteins. I order a ham and swiss LTM hero and put it in my backpack. If it is cut in half you have 2 meals. Get some kettle cooked chips (BBQ my fav) to go along!

Like, who in God's name would pay $50 (Which at the time of writing is equal to €45 + 7cent)JUST to get a decent meal on a transatlantic night flight. That is a daylight robbery in my eyes. What if you hadn't time to grab a meal airside if it was busy at security and didn't want to bother paying $50 for that?. Norse need to lower prices to as much as 1/2 or even 3/4 that price to make it more available to the average transatlantic traveller.

Exactly what is expected of a concept like this. Pushing the prices as low as possible, while charging extra for food and other comfort. Pretty much the Norwegian 787s under a new name, but the same level of service. Will be interesting to see if they'll actually be able to make it, long haul low cost is usually a death sentence.

Flew Norse Atlantic from JFK Terminal 7 to London Gatwick on Friday November 3rd 2023. Booked my self and son via the web. Bought the add on of lounge access before my flight, not cheap. Delighted to discover that the Terminal 7 airport lounge does NOT accept bookings from Norse and you have to pay $65 at the door to access the lounge. I complained to the gate staff, and they knew about this. So delighted to have been defrauded by Norse Atlantic Airways taking cash from me to book something their staff knew was impossible. From what the airport lounge staff said, this is a regular occurance. So I'm spreading the love by leaving this comment in as many Norse videos that I can find.

Two things: 1st...Nice to see a trip report with no talking. 2nd...The way around the food thing is simply to purchase snacks or whatever before entering the plane. Sure, one has to make an adjustment, but one can still save while still having something to eat. I personally always bring food on board since you never know nowadays how the airplane food will taste. It´s all about preparation. Everytime I fly I try to keep the fun in travel. But it does require a bit of intentional effort. Safe travels to all.

The only thing I missed flying with Norse was a flight map! Come on! 10h flight OSL-LAX over some of the most amazing landscapes on Earth and you can't even know where you are... Otherwise, a good airline if you wanna buy just a one-way ticket (with no return leg). In other case, the prices are pretty much the same as any other airline with better service once you add some food or seat. By the way!! Did the crew block the windows in dark mode? That's the only reason I always avoid long-haul on a Boeing 787. I know many airlines already told their crews to dim the windows but not block them in that state, as they got a lot of negative feedback from customers...
@marcd6897
@marcd6897 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, that’s also a main reason for me to avoid flying on 787 - when I choose a window seat, and in many cases even have to pay for the “privilege” to sit at the window, I really don’t want a flight crew on a power trip to force dim the windows on me.

I took their predecessor, Norwegian Air Shuttle, from the West Coast to London several times on this airplane type, and am going to fly Norse this fall. I have never, ever, ever flown trans-Atlantic in economy and never would. Premium economy is the only way to go--wider seat, tons of legroom, more recline, everything included, for a fraction of business class on any other carrier. If you don't need a private suite and a lie-flat bed, this is by far the best deal.

The basic mode of business of all of the LCC's, is get people on the flight for a cheap price & then charge them for the extras. I am trying to think what people would be expecting for 50 Dollars, when they are flying on basically a glorified bus. If I am travelling on a LCC, there is one simple rule 'Bring you're own' The main problem seems to be, is the time of departure 23.00hrs & the carry-on liquid rule. So bring your own food & hopefully some shops will still be open to sell liquids once you are through security & enjoy a cheap flight. Start Exploring The Rest Of The World

But again, thank you fir showing what it is like now a days to find a decent discount airline to get to Europe. From Berlin there I would stay a day or two then take one of the Europe trains to Paris, France. Stay in Paris a day or two then take the Eurostar to London, UK. Finally, stay there a day or two and the come back.

I just learned that Norse is built on the bones of bankrupt Norwegian Air. It means that all the planes are from that airline, with the same seats, entertainment system, and features. If you look at a Norwegian Air review it will be the exact same except the name is different. Even the Premium Economy which is among the best among all carriers including the main line. Not sure they will make it as the planes in all the reviews are pretty empty particularly in Premium, but maybe they will. Appreciate this review. Considering the low cost and the fact they are much higher end than say Play or French Bee they seem to be the airline to take if you are trying to save money but not give up a ton of the normal benefits of flying.

I think the cabin looks absolutely fine. The legroom is not great, but at least the seats don't look like they're about to fall apart (I'm looking at you Scoot...). But the price of the food is literally a scam.... I think it's fine if an LCC sells food on board at a high price, but a meal pre-ordered (!) online should never cost that much! 15$-20$ for the dinner and 5$-10$ for the "breakfast" would have been the maximum price that would have been ok.

But Norse out of the regularly scheduled International not seasonal flights Norse charge as to do Cebu Pacific in Asia but on the Transatlantic market Norse and maybe Air Transat

@Lord Darlo i do realize that. I fly Delta mostly, and they offer meals. But i am such a picky eater that i always bring something just in case i do not like what is offered. It works good for Amanda cause she will eat anything. So if i do not like what is offered, then she basically gets 2 meals. LOL

Every airline for flights that are 5 hours or longer should serve complimentary meals and soft drinks regardless of LLC or not.

Why? You are getting a ticket for half off, even with the meal.

Sorry but $50 for that mess!???? Nope... I'd have asked for moving seats to the extra legroom and been hungry but comfortable!!! That's an outrageous price.

Well, the price of meal is daylight robbery (in spite of the night flight) considering the quantity and being a low cost airline is no excuse for that. And water should be included no matter what type of airline it is (people have to take medicine, hydrate themselves etc.). Is checked baggage included? What I missed is showing the legroom (if there's any). Otherwise very useful report.

Too bad you spend that much for the meals. I am glad you had a great deal with your flight though. Traveling is not cheap so anything that helps (cost wise) to get to your destination is a big plus.

I wonder how an airline based in Norway (with subsidiary in the UK) can operate a flight between the USA and Germany. I think this is a "seventh freedom" flight, since looking up Norse Atlantic flight 622 shows that it didn't extend on either end beyond Fort Lauderdale or Berlin. The USA and Germany both have to grant Norse Atlantic that seventh freedom, correct? Why would the USA grant that right to a Norwegian airline? There is no way a US airline would be permitted to operate a flight which was only from Germany to Norway, or Germany to Brasil (for instance, to make it intercontinental). How and why are such rights/"freedoms" granted to European airlines but never to American airlines?

Based on a review of their premium class that I saw, the $250 upgrade to their premium class would be worth the money because you get a bigger seat, meals are included, along with beer or wine, and you get a blanket so you sleep better. All in all though, after my longhaul experience on WOW Air, I'll rather pay the extra and fly legacy airlines. For an av geek and frequent flyer, LCC is simply not worth the hassle.

50 USD is way too much money for airline food. Next time you may have to pack your lunch before you board.

For $200, this is a perfect flight. I'd instead make my own meal rather than pay $50 for that small meal.
