Thanks for the very thorough review. Much better than others I watched and you convinced me this is the way to go! Cheers from Alaska!

Great video, I just picked up the 3.25hp and was a bit overwhelmed right away. The instructions do not say a whole lot and this is only my second router. I use them mainly for flattening large slabs which is why I went with the extra horse power. Anyhow I think you got me going and I will return to this video for instructions as needed. Hope it all works out.

Brilliant review John, being eyeing one of these for a while for a router table. The built-in rise and fall mechanism makes it a winner for me. My old 1/2 inch Elu had its day. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

Very nice useful information John - thank you. I've just bought the Triton 2400 watt beast and slung this under my router table with a Kreg insert plate. Initially couldn't figure out why the start switch plastic cover was locked - now I know. Also I now know how to remove the spring you commented on - I'll try to avoid it clocking me in the mush!! I install decking and make garden furniture accessories so I'm using the router primarily for flush trimming with pattern components. Nice video John - best of luck with the November and December weather in the emerald isle. Cheers Phil

Great video... I was gifted the triton and a kreg router table. I am a beginner and self taught so you can only imagine the scare factor of unboxing the triton TRA001🤯. Your video is more helpful than the damn manual that comes with the tool. Thanks for turning that monster back into a tool..lol

Such a good explanation of how the router works. It was very helpful as the Triton manual in a word sucks and their KZbin video is not much better. Thanx for the great video.

Great video review... I have this router and use the supplied spanner for fitting the router bits! I never realised that it was also for "inserting and removing your tool" I will try it and let you know if it works well...

I have the big one in my router table. Awesome that I didn't have to buy a lift. It's a beast to use freehand so I suppose eventually I'll buy a smaller one for that.

Have you had any problems with the depth stop? I've found it moves sometimes. It's just a knob on a thread and there's nothing to actually lock it in place and so it can wander. Obviously this is terrible on a depth stop...
@Wolfie5652 жыл бұрын
How do you use it has a plunge router as ya can't see anything because of the guard especially the bit so a bit of pre measuring to know when to stop the cut is needed or am I doing it wrong?

I also have to manually turn off the router via switch before the machine is able to rise and the manually open the slide and manually turn on again. I placed this router in a box under the router table but had to make a door for this purpose. I do prefer this method over the double wrench that most other routers use. Overall I love this router. I do have the larger version. Definitely table use only.

Is your table wonky or did you twist your base plate?
@ChristopherClaudioSkierka4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, , does the collet go beyond the body of the router ? I am thinking of buying one of these making my own router table but the base plate(own made 12mm)) maybe too thick and not allow the router bit to full come up through the table?
@johnmutton7994 жыл бұрын
Clamp the router to the bench top, unlock the plunge and see how much play is on the pillars. By lifting and pushing on the handles. It should not move on the pillars. If there is play, the locking lever will pull the bit out of square to the base. The one i looked at was horrible. Let me know if they solved the problem. Thanks for showing!

John - your content is bang on, I’m looking to buy the same router, also fit it to a router plate to fit in my MFT like you have built, could you recommend a base plate ? Thanks in advance.

The trend plate or the UJK plate will fit the Triton

did you get really bad vibrations with yours, mine was so bad it would unlock the stops and depth gauges.
@JohnMcGrathManInShed4 жыл бұрын
No mine seems fine, if it's vibrating badly something is wrong. Possibly a failed bearing or motor issue.

Ive a hitachi m12v2 which I bought used ,Ive played with most power tools but not the router ,I got ripped of as the fine ajustment nob and a few internal adjustment parts were in bad nick causing issues .after receiving it couldnt be botherd sending it back due to its weight .but recently have bought parts needed to get it up and runner as i wont to do sone inletting on a diy gun stock .this router your reviewing looks a nice bit of kit well thought out features ,I would of bought my one as at the time ,but this was years ago .been looking at many KZbin vids on how to get the best out of them ,every thing on my router now seems ok what u think of the hitachi m12v2 ? It a 2000 watt router at the time it was highly regarded .Im in the belief in buying brand name due to previous experience it false economy wasting money on cheap tools
@JohnMcGrathManInShed5 жыл бұрын
The hitachi is a good router plenty of power, buy once buy good is a good rule to have when it comes to tools.

Yes agree with other comments the manual is complete rubbish. I'm thinking of fitting an NVR switch but not sure if it's possible to by-pass the existing on off safety device. John you're an electrician - advice welcome. Cheers Phil

Locking the spindle's movement with one hand (left) and adjusting router height (right hand) is more difficult than it should be. I wish (really do) that the winder easily moves the cutter up and down, WHICH IT DOES NOT. You might say take it to the dealer, but I've already done that too many times. Not worth the agony.
