In this video, we take a look at my ICP Test results from the test I did last week and it’s not great news 😬

Neil, well done with this vid. Best most informative ICP test vid I've seen as you sum it up quick and briefly and get straight to the point. Very interesting and I also dose with all for Reef so I'd my interested to do mine now. 👍👍👍

Thanks Neil. I really appreciate that. You should try and do one every 6 months. It just gives you a bit of peace of mind 🙂

Tanks looking great mate , like you said with the all for Reef I would reduce it slightly daily as it came back over 500 on the ICP test, then do another in a couple of months and see if there's any difference, but apart from that I think your tank looks great 👍👍

Thanks Ste. Yeah, think I will try that mate. Hope you’re all good 🙂

The generality accepted level of Iron in a reef tank is 0.02mg/l or 20ug/l. If anything your Iron is low, not high. Iron promotes vibrant green pigments. Never use a single source or single test to make drastic changes in your reef tank. You acknowledge that this is your first ICP test. Don't overreact and go chasing numbers. You will regret it.

Thanks Sean. That’s interesting about the iron. I got the impression it was real high. This is my 4th ICP now. I do one every 6 months and tanks been running just over 2 years

Hey Neil, hope you resolve the iron issue and perhaps have a search around for something in the sump or any metals above the sump where condensation could be dripping back in from a rusty screw or even check from where you make/ collect your water. Fingers crossed it isn’t the mp40. Hope you can sort the N-Doc test soon. My ICP test came back with 0 iron (you can see my results in my YT video) and I use Rowaphos like yourself so wouldn't have thought it was that.

Thanks mate. I’m hoping it’s not metal in the tank as it will get worse and I definitely don’t want to fork out on a new wet side MP40. Glad to hear yours come back good. Will check it out 🙂 👍🏽

Hey you are looking well enough. 30% water change every week for a month will fix your issue.

Hi Neil, new subscriber from Sydney Australia here mate. I just bought this test kit today and will be testing soon. What was the outcome of your tank after you finished dosing iodine? My helio fungia has closed up and Xenia shrivelling up, so I wonder if I’m also low on iodine. Great video mate! Hope your tank is not too small for your yellow tang though.

I dose iodine every 10days. You should see an improvement in coral colouration. Overall good results. Looking forward to seeing the other results aswell. Great video mate 😊👍

Thanks Jay. Hopefully the Iodine will help. Wish I’d done it much earlier 🙂

How strange. I'm on the aquaforest and I dose iron. The actual bottle is just iron. And that icp test is saying it should be zero. 🤷♂️

I use the salifert iodine, it doesn't cause a problem if you overdose...but don't overdose it purposefully! I don't have an iodine test but every 2 weeks I put 5ml into my 170.
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I will continue to dose mine carefully 🙂

Rowaphos is iron based Phosphate remover, my guess is that it is contaminating your tank water with iron.
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
I didn’t know that. That’s interesting, maybe it’s that. I will look into this. Thanks ZukkoZu 🙂

Water changes will replace everything you need be careful dosing and dosing water changes
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
Yeah I may not do as big a change as they have said. I will probably stick to 10% per week

Hi mate how did the dosing iodine get on? i just got my ICP and i have low iodine and high tin :(
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
Yeah it’s ok mate. Keep forgetting to dose it 😄 Supposed to dose 0.3ml per day. I would get the Trition Iodine and do the dose it says on the ICP. Tin? Do you use Spotless Water?
@darthcon342 жыл бұрын
@@neilsreefaquarium9530 i did but not anymore, wondering if thats what the issue is hmm
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
I was told Spotless causes tin in your water. That’s why I stopped using it and went back to buying from LFS
@R1CLUTCHUP2 жыл бұрын
You have something rusty in your tank causing the iron.
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
I initially thought that. If it doesn’t go gone. I’ll research this more. Will also take a look at my MP40 as I’ve heard they can cause this issue 🙂
@R1CLUTCHUP2 жыл бұрын
@@neilsreefaquarium9530 with iron that high it is 100% something rusting. Could be in your sump as well.

Where your alk is your phosphate and nitrate is way to high
@neilsreefaquarium95302 жыл бұрын
My Nitrates are always around the 20 mark. I’ve stopped dosing NO PO X the last few weeks and also didn’t change my Rowa Phos and Carbon for ages. The tests are also always done before my weekly water change so would drop just after the tests when the change is done 🙂
