thanks for the brilliant review on this machine. mine comes today with extra sleeves and a 75mm rubber insert , really it's a no boner oscillating drum belt sander and you can use the bevel . nice trick with 75mm drum. but why didn't triton cater for the 75mm drum in manufacture when they sell sleeves in pkts of six

What you didn't mention is that when you want replacement sleeves you can't by the sizes individually and if you are only using one size you end up with loads of sleeves you don't need. @@RussellPlatten Russell, so often reviews are woolly or in an accent that can't be understood and at a helium fuelled speed of delivery that contradicts the patience that woodworking demands! I liked your down to earth, clear and need to know delivery. the art of a good review is the reviewer answering all the questions the woodworker is thinking of and at the time that is appropriate and of course being succinct!

Thank you very much for doing the review. What’s the accuracy like? I watched a review of a different make to the Triton and the reviewer remarked that the table could not be sett to an accurate 90 degrees to the belt sander, and also the sanded edge was slightly bellied amongst other things. I would like a belt bobbin sander combination but accuracy is important to me. Thanks again.
@RussellPlatten
@RussellPlatten 5 жыл бұрын
If you look at 5:00 you can see me check the spindle. I have no issues with mine. Others have mentioned issues with theirs. I went into the garage before replying to you and checked it again. It was very slightly out, about 1 degree, but I was able to correct it by giving the moving part of the table a tap upwards. The belt was vertical at both ends. I found no movement inwards at the centre bottom (with my finger resting on the table pressing on the belt in the middle between the two rollers). However at the top of the belt in the centre there was a couple of millimetres movement, I suspect that this is caused by the tracking mechanism. I would say that it is not perfectly accurate, but is is certainly fine for my needs. I hope this helps. :-)

Russell Platten the motor on my Ridged quit on me after about 2 years of light duty. It sure was nice when it was working though. Moved on to a jet JBOS5 great tool. Thanks for the reply.

It's a pity that the sanding sleeves do not oscillate to the full height of the sleaves.

@@RussellPlatten ohh, here comes my english speaking abilities.. . I'll do my best. The edges of the sanding belt are overlapped and glued together. When sanding something it's safer if the "above" edge comes first, if not the risk of damaging the band increases. Usually on the inside of the band is an arrow indicating how it should be mounted. I'm pretty sure you know that so i guess either i'm not seeing very well or you were excited to try that new tool and forgot to put the belt right

@@denoro. Your English is very good! I see what you mean about the belt, it is on the wrong way round. I was not paying attention when I put it on. Thank you for pointing that out! :-)

@@RussellPlatten thank you for your review of this product. I really need a spindle sander , but can you believe i can't really find one in Romania? And it's not like we don't have every other cool tool on sale here. I'm frustrated. And i never ordered on Amazon before, and the fact that it's a heavy tool doesn't help with my confidence to order one ...
